Today we’d like to introduce you to Dallas Dresco.
Hi Dallas, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Before my YouTube journey, I had been in the restaurant business for about 23 years. I was a bartender at my last job and worked there for almost 10 years, where I gave all of my blood, sweat, tears, and time to. My husband and I were two of the three bartenders and had met at that restaurant. While I was working there for years, unfortunately for my friends, I had talked non-stop about starting a YouTube channel. At that point all my friends were sick and tired of hearing me talk about it and just kept telling me to do it, but I was really afraid for some reason. Covid happened, we decided to finally leave the restaurant business, my husband’s the best plumber now. I got the courage finally after that to start my YouTube channel and I did so with a very close friend. She is no longer part of the channel unfortunately because she had way too many things going on and didn’t really have time, but I love all of the content we STILL have on the channel of us together.
Starting this YouTube channel has been the best thing that I’ve ever done and my greatest accomplishment. I love the community that I have built with this channel. I love the people that I’ve been able to reach. I love every single subscriber that I have because let’s face it my YouTube is here because of them. I I’m so grateful and thankful for every single person that has watched, commented or followed my content. I put tons of work into my videos and only hope to put out positive messages through real life situations but also I HAVE SO MUCH FUN! Filming my videos has been so far my favorite hobby that I’ve ever had. I call it a hobby because it’s so much fun, even though I know it’s way more than that.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I don’t think unless you already have a big platform or your famous that YouTube goes smooth for anybody. 😂 I started this channel November 3, 2022. I have over 1200 videos on my channel, which I post weekly and consistently without ever have missed a week since I started. A big struggle, was finding my content and what I wanted to do on my channel. A lot of YouTubers do what is called chasing the carrot. Which is just doing basically whatever’s trending whatever is gonna get you views and subscribers. I did that for a little while to figure out what my content was, I mean, let’s face it. I had a blast in the meantime and I learned a lot. I’m happy to say my content is established now and I feel like I got my groove going. I also didn’t know anything about editing, posting or even social media at that point. I only had a Facebook account. 😂 I had to teach myself everything from the ground up! I had never even made a thumbnail or edited one of my own pictures, let alone videos! Everything was a learning process and sometimes still is, but I will never take for granted all of the information I have learned and researched throughout my YouTube journey. It is still a learning process though, and I guess I’ve learned a lot more than I give myself credit for because I have other creators come to me and ask me advice. I also have a lot of people in my personal life that have seen the journey and struggles that I’ve been through, that have come up to me and told me I’ve inspired them to do things they were not comfortable doing before. We let fear stop us too much, and that’s what I wanna tell everybody. Struggles happen for a reason.. nobody would be the person they are today if they didn’t struggle, even a little bit.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am definitely a creative hands-down. Always have been. I think that comes across in my videos for sure. I would describe the kind of content I put out to be a cross between entertainment and just real life content with the intentions to inspire, uplift and motivate as many people as possible! My goal is to put out positive messages, because there’s too many people out there that try to hold you back or tell you you’re too small, because you’re not. I’ve repeated this in my videos so many times to tell people if you’re not happy somewhere doing something, leave. If you want do something so bad and you’re not sure if you should because you’re afraid, DO IT! We are not promised tomorrow, and it took me a while to get to know that, now that I do, I’ll shout it from the rooftops (or just post it on my YouTube channel) 😂 besides that my videos are pretty cute and funny, I pour my heart and soul into this channel. It’s one of my greatest accomplishments and the fact that I did what I talked about over and over and have been successful at it is EVERYTHING to me! I have gotten so many different opportunities and experiences that I am so grateful for, things I would’ve never gotten to do if I hadn’t started this channel. If you seek opportunity, it will come. You just have to be about it!
I’m also pretty proud of myself. Just to be where I’m at today, making all of the positive changes in my life that I did and made since my restaurant days. I lost over 100 pounds, quit drinking alcohol (Thursday the 19th is my four years sober from alcohol, which I quit cold turkey) and gained an entirely new outlook on life. I am now a yes, girl and Will do as much with my life as I possibly can that includes when I started my channel. I think what sets me apart, is me. I’m strong, have been through so much in my life and I still keep a smile on my face no matter what! It may have taken me a minute to get here, but the phrase fake it till you make it has been and played a big part in my adult life and I encourage everyone who needs to hear this to repeat that to themselves. It’s a great way to help get you to be where you need to be and has helped me with my confidence overall substantially.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory is the amount of time I spent at my great grandmother’s house, we cooked baked, sewed, and I learned how to play piano, which I still do and love. Everything she has taught me when I was a kid I applied to my life and actively in my videos now. When my great grandfather was serving in the war, she went behind his back to get her cosmetology license (he told her no, and she did it anyways, probably why I’m like that also) 😂 thank goodness she did because she taught me how to do my make up and take care of myself. I say all of this to say., there’s not just one memory I can pinpoint. But when I think about my childhood, that’s the only thing that I can think about. Everything I do in my videos and have learned has been because of her.. I know that’s not what you asked, but it was important for me to say.
