Today we’d like to introduce you to Isabel Bucaram.
Isabel, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey began not in journalism, but in economics. I was trained as an economist, which gave me a strong foundation in understanding systems, human behavior, and how impact is created—skills that have proven invaluable across every chapter of my career. But early on, I discovered that my true passion lived in storytelling, communication, and the ability to shape perception through narrative.
Even before my professional life began, I understood the importance of relationships. I started networking at a very early stage in my life—not in the transactional sense, but by genuinely connecting with people, exchanging ideas, and learning from every interaction. That instinct evolved into one of my greatest assets and has guided me throughout my work across media, politics, and global strategy.
Over the years, I’ve moved fluidly between journalism, cultural strategy, understanding of politics, and experiential marketing—always gravitating toward work that sits at the intersection of influence, identity, and purpose. I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with leaders, creatives, and changemakers across borders, using communication as a tool for transformation.
Today, I’m focused on building my own firm, PerfectLink Media—a name that reflects my belief in the transformative power of connection. It’s about linking people, ideas, efforts, and a deep love for the craft. In every project, there’s always a perfect link—and finding it is where the magic begins.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not a smooth road—but I’ve come to see that as part of the beauty of the journey. I’ve faced challenges that tested not only my resilience but also my clarity of purpose. Navigating male-dominated spaces—whether in politics, media, or business—meant constantly having to prove my value, often in rooms where I was the only woman, or the youngest, or both. At times, being underestimated became fuel, but it also required deep inner work to stay centered and true to my voice.
There were also moments of reinvention. Transitioning from economics to journalism, and later into brand strategy and experiential marketing, wasn’t always linear or easily understood. On top of that, moving from one country to another—and from one culture to another—added a layer of complexity. You carry your roots with pride, but you also have to learn how to adapt, to read new codes, and to find your voice in unfamiliar environments. That can be both disorienting and empowering.
Each stage of my career—working 15 years for CNN en Español, before that for SBS (Spanish Broadcasting System), and now leading my own firm—has come with its own unique challenges and lessons. But every step has helped shape the perspective, strength, and purpose I bring to my work today.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about PerfectLink Media?

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I’ve had the privilege of watching Miami grow and transform into the vibrant, world-class city it is today. Theaters have flourished alongside this growth, offering a rich variety of multicultural plays that celebrate the city’s diverse heritage. With the presence of global icons like Beckham and Messi, major events like the Formula 1 Grand Prix and now the FIFA Championships, Miami truly shines on the international stage. You can feel the momentum everywhere — from people buying properties to investing in this wonderful, dynamic city that continues to thrive.
What I love most is the incredible cultural richness and diversity. Neighborhoods like Coral Gables, Coconut Grove, Key Biscayne, Brickell, Miami Beach, South Miami, and Pinecrest each have their own unique flavor, creating a mosaic of experiences. And of course, you can’t forget the energy of Calle 8 — the heartbeat of Miami’s Latin culture.
Personally, I’ve always enjoyed the city’s tennis courts and golf courses — places where you can unwind and feel like you’re truly in paradise. Miami’s natural beauty and vibrant community make it the perfect place to live, work, and build meaningful connections.
