Life & Work with Elizabeth Quevedo of Miami, Florida

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Quevedo From Your Wedding Boutique

Elizabeth, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey into the world of wedding planning began long before I ever knew what it would become. As a mom, I found joy in creating birthday parties, decorating for family holidays, and making every moment special for my kids. Those small and personal celebrations created a spark.

It wasn’t until a family member asked me to plan his daughter’s quinceañera that the spark became something bigger. The challenge and excitement of creating an unforgettable experience for so many made me realize I wanted to do something like this professionally.

I was lucky to have found the guidance of an experienced event planner who became not only a mentor, but one of my dearest friends. Her advice and support was invaluable as I navigated the industry, gaining experience and honing my skills along the way. After years of working in all aspects of event planning, I finally had the honor of organizing my first wedding. It was then that my heart was fully set on weddings. The elegance, emotion, and joy of bringing someone’s dreams to life was what I learned fulfills me.

Looking back, it’s amazing to see how a simple family event turned into a lifelong career and passion.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road.

That’s part of what makes this journey so rewarding. Over the course of more than a decade in this industry, I’ve learned that every wedding presents its own unique set of challenges. It’s not about having everything go perfectly but how to handle the unexpected with grace.

The road to success in wedding planning required a lot of me. Creativity and the ability to stay organized while keeping a clear head. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is the importance of being ahead of the game. I have to anticipate needs, manage details, and always stay on top of trends and logistics. This has been crucial to understanding people, their expectations, priorities, and emotions.

Every client is different, so learning how to guide them through the process and keeping them calm and confident has been a key part of my growth as a planner. There is always going to be the uncontrollable in life. Some factors, like the weather, are just part of the deal. It has taken time to learn how to go about those moments when things don’t go according to plan. I’ve had to guide my clients through taking a step back, breathing, and letting go of what they can’t control. It’s always about keeping the big picture in mind. This is their special day after all and I’m going to make sure it’s unforgettable regardless of the circumstances.

I’ve driven through all the bumpy roads so that I can have the pleasure of reminding my clients to allow me to do my job so that they can relax and truly enjoy their special day. It goes by so quickly, and every second that goes by is one that I want them to enjoy.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in all types of weddings indoor or outdoor, specialty venues, grand ballrooms or intimate settings and offer a range of services, including partial planning, full planning, and destination wedding planning. While I love every aspect of what I do, destination wedding planning holds a special place in my heart. I’m especially excited when couples choose Miami to celebrate their big day. This city is a dream backdrop, with its vibrant cultural fusion, stunningly diverse venues, and top of the line wedding professionals who work alongside me to bring each couple’s vision to life seamlessly and beautifully.

One of my most memorable experiences this year was working with Danielle and Rafael, a couple who flew all the way from Boston to celebrate their wedding in Miami. Their big day brought family and friends from around the world for a truly beautiful destination wedding. The planning process took about a year. We visited many venues before finding the perfect one for them and spent countless hours curating every element to bring their vision to life. With the help of some of the best vendors in the city, every detail was thoughtfully planned, and the result was nothing short of spectacular. Best of all, their loved ones not only experienced an unforgettable celebration of love, but also had the chance to explore and enjoy everything Miami has to offer from world-class dining and nightlife to beaches, art, and culture.

What excites me most about this job is bringing a couple’s vision to life. I am beyond grateful to be part of such an important moment in people’s lives, honestly, I couldn’t ask for anything more.

Being a wedding planner requires a certain kind of skill. It’s not about only being a planner but getting to understand people while managing the countless moving parts of a wedding. The wedding industry is exhausting, stressful, and highly competitive, but it’s that passion, focus, and dedication to each client that truly makes it all worth it. You have to have passion and knowledge to make sure every detail is perfect, and every couple feels cared for and supported.

Pricing for wedding planning can vary depending on a number of factors including the planner’s experience, the services they provide, and the specific needs of each couple. There are several things to consider when determining cost. Complexity of the event, location, distance from the planner’s base of operations just to name a few.

What kind of feedback do you typically hear from couples after the wedding day, and how does that shape the way you approach future weddings?
Most couples mentioned how quickly the day flew by and how they wished they could relive it. I always remind my clients that it’s so important to step back and enjoy the moment, because it really does pass by so fast. I encourage them to take time to savor the little things whether it’s enjoying a bite of cake, soaking in the energy of their guests, or simply having a quiet moment together. It gives them the chance to reconnect and reset before diving back into the celebration

Hearing that feedback shapes the way I approach every wedding. It reminds me to build intentional pauses into the day for my couples, so they have space to breathe, take it all in, and feel present.
