Community Highlights: Meet Audrey Gorman of International Staff Augmentation

Today we’d like to introduce you to Audrey Gorman.

Hi Audrey, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I grew up as an only child to an immigrant mother from Germany and an American father. They have always pushed me to be the greatest version of myself that I could be whether that was in my extracurriculars or in school, I was always taught that I could do anything I put my mind to. My father being a pilot, and my mom, being from another country, allowed me to grow up with an international perspective as I was fortunate enough to travel out of the country regularly. Being able to see and interact with other cultures inspired me to pursue experiences that allowed me to learn on a global scale, such as studying abroad at the age of 17. It put me on the path to eventually getting my master’s in international business from the University of Florida and now working for an international company.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I don’t think anyone ever has a “smooth” road. That’s just not how life works, but in the grand scheme of things, I am grateful to not have struggled with any tragic events, health issues, or extreme financial hardships thus far in my life. I try to view struggles and obstacles as either redirection or opportunities to learn. For me, a struggle was figuring out what I wanted to do for work after I graduated. As someone who always plans things out far in advance and likes to have a plan, I was hard on myself for not having it all figured out by the time graduation rolled around. I knew to some extent what I liked and what I didn’t like, but finding a job that aligned with those things wasn’t immediate. My first job out of college was actually selling fish at a wholesale seafood distributor. It turned out to be a unique, great experience, and built the foundation for my next role.

As you know, we’re big fans of International Staff Augmentation . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I am the Director of Business Development and Marketing at International Staff Augmentation (ISA). At ISA, we provide highly skilled, remote employees based in Latin America to companies across all industries in the United States. We fill roles such as bookkeepers, legal assistants, intake specialists, administrative assistants, and medical billers, to name a few. If the work can be done remotely, we can probably find the right person for it.

We’re not a traditional staffing agency or outsourcing operation. Our employees are meant to become a true extension of their U.S. team. This isn’t a setup where work is handed off and returned with minimal communication. Instead, our team members are actively involved in the day-to-day, building relationships, contributing to goals, and working closely with their managers, just like any in-house employee, only based elsewhere.

We handle the full process from recruiting and background checks to HR and payroll, so our clients can stay focused on growing their business without the administrative burden. Aside from large cost savings, our clients tend to see greater value in the quality of the talent they are hiring, and I’m often told how expectations were exceeded.

What sets us apart is how we treat our people. We focus on what we call the “emotional salary,” which is everything we do outside of paying competitive salaries and includes paying employees’ home Wi-Fi, giving lunch and grocery stipends, giving out scholarships for family members, as well as personal and professional development seminars, such as how to manage stress and anxiety, or how to dress professionally. When people feel genuinely valued and supported, they’re more engaged and committed, and our clients see the difference.

What I’m most proud of is the impact we’re making: helping companies grow more efficiently while creating long-term career opportunities that genuinely improve people’s lives.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I have always been a people person and was known to go up and talk to anyone. I was definitely not shy. I was also creative and loved to draw, put together shows and skits, and create fun projects with my friends. I was often leading and organizing events and activities for everyone, which is something I still like to do to this day.
