Today we’d like to introduce you to Luanda Akosua.
Hi Luanda, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey into self-defense began as a personal fight for survival. After enduring many abusive relationships and beginning the deep work of unpacking the trauma, to include childhood trauma, I made a decision to never be powerless again, and to help others do the same. That decision led me to become a certified firearms instructor and develop a holistic approach to self-defense: one that empowers women not just physically, but mentally and spiritually. Along the way, I discovered my voice, a voice of truth that awakens awareness and helps others begin their healing journey. Today, I train women to protect their mind, body, and soul. I guide them to acknowledge their truth, and break generational cycles. This is more than training. it’s transformation, purpose, and protection redefined.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not at all, and I believe that’s where the strength of my story lies. The path that led me to where I am today has been filled with challenges that cracked me open in every way imaginable. I had to detach from an abusive environment and face the emotional aftermath of that decision. I endured public ridicule on social media and battled through private despair that at times felt unbearable.
I’ve moved through deep grief and intense spiritual awakenings that shattered my sense of identity, including what many would call a dark night of the soul. These experiences tested me, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, but they also woke me up.
Those struggles didn’t break me, they saved me. Today, I stand more grounded, more aware, and more committed to guiding others through their own transformation. Because I know what it feels like to fight for your self and win. I am beyond grateful for my experiences.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My work is rooted in trauma-informed care. I educate communities about childhood trauma, its lasting impact, and how to break free from cycles of pain through awareness and healing. I specialize in intuitive protection, self-defense training, and spiritual awakening, all guided by the belief that true safety begins within.
I’m known for being a voice of truth, someone who can speak directly to the pain we often hide, and guide others in transforming it. What I’m most proud of is witnessing the shift in people when they realize they are not broken; they are becoming whole.
What sets me apart is the integration. I don’t just teach people how to defend themselves from outside threats; I help them protect their peace, reconnect with their authentic self, and move through life consciously and courageously.
What are your plans for the future?
I’m focused on creating more intentional, in-person safe spaces where healing, connection, and transformation can happen face-to-face, not just digitally. While online platforms have helped me reach many, I believe there’s unmatched power in gathering in sacred spaces, in real time, with real energy.
I plan to expand my offerings through retreats, workshops, and community events that combine self-defense, spiritual growth, and trauma healing. These spaces will be designed for people to feel seen, heard, and protected, not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually.
I’m also continuing to develop programs that support people and youth in breaking cycles of trauma and learning to lead with awareness, confidence, and inner strength. Big changes are coming, but all of them are rooted in deeper presence, deeper purpose, and collective healing.
