Meet Tra’Donn Glover of Miami, Florida

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tra’Donn Glover.

Hi Tra’Donn, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Tra’Donn M. Glover, was born and raised in Miami, Florida who grew up in Liberty City. She is a high school graduate of Miami Central Senior High School and a college graduate of Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University. She received her Master’s Degree from Nova Southeastern University in June 2022. Ms. Glover is a dedicated scholar and professional, currently pursuing her Doctoral Degree in Organizational Leadership. She started her foundation on April 30, 2021. She stated “Giving back is something that I have always wanted to do within my community when I came back home from college. Giving back is instilled in who I am as a person and I wanted to create something big that shows who I am.”

The T. Monaye Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting youth with their transition into adulthood. Our mission is to provide multiple resources that will enrich the youth by cultivating positive learning behaviors, instilling the importance of responsibilities, and shaping their future progressive development. We strive to help the next generation by supporting college-readiness practices, aspiring entrepreneurs and partnering with greater stakeholders in the community. We also have toy drives, back to school drives, thanksgiving drives, and mental health and business seminars. Our main initiative is our annual Book Scholarship in which we have given 20 deserving high school seniors that are currently attending four year universities scholarships within the last four years. The service is still ongoing.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
This has not been a smooth road at all. Some of the struggles along the way was securing consistent funding, gaining community trust and establishing a recognizable brand, understanding strict state and federal regulations, including annual filings and transparency standards, and juggling multiple roles without enough help or resources. However, despite these challenges, with clear purpose, strategic planning, and community support, building a nonprofit can make a meaningful impact which is why I continued to persevere through the challenges to carry out the mission of the organization because it is bigger than me.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I currently serve as the Administrative Secretary for the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, Internal Affairs Office, reporting directly to the bureau Major. In this role, I oversee all administrative operations for the entire bureau. I manage scheduling, internal and external communications, reports, investigative case files, review correspondence and ensure that all daily functions run smoothly and efficiently. My role requires discretion, integrity, organization, time management and the ability to anticipate the needs of leadership and staff.

I specialize in streamlining administrative processes, improving internal workflows, and creating systems that support accountability and efficiency. I am known for my professionalism, reliability, and ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality while managing multiple high-priority tasks under pressure.

What I’m most proud of is being a trusted go-to resource within the bureau. I take pride in the fact that my work directly supports law enforcement operations, helping our teams focus on community safety while I handle the administrative foundation that keeps everything moving.

What sets me apart is my dedication to excellence and my long-term vision. I aspire to move up through the ranks and one day become a bureau commander. I’m passionate about leadership, mentorship, and giving back to the community and that drive shows in the quality of my work every day.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Step out on faith and just do it. My journey began with only wanting to give away book scholarships to deserving seniors. Everything else came afterwards and has blossomed into something so beautiful and worth it. It will not be easy and sometimes you will not finish with the individuals you started with. I wish I knew more of the actual business side of starting a nonprofit before jumping in so fast. But with trial and error, I have gained so much knowledge now. Understand that it is ok to make mistakes as long as you learn from them. Always trust the process before the promise.
