Hi Rodney, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’m an orthodontist and owner of Torres Orthodontics, with practices in Miami Lakes, Boca Raton, and Tampa. My journey started with a desire to combine art, science, and service, and orthodontics turned out to be the perfect fit.
After completing dental school and my orthodontic residency, I worked in several practices, learning what to do and what not to do when it came to running a patient-centered, high-quality office. Eventually, I took the leap and acquired my first practice. From there, I rebranded under my own name and began building a team and culture that reflect my values: personalized care, transparency, and a warm, bilingual family environment.
Today, I’m focused on growing our footprint while staying rooted in the kind of service that earns trust and creates smiles we can all be proud of.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Definitely not a smooth road, but every challenge has helped shape the way I lead today. When I first acquired my practices, they were in a tough spot: low staff morale, poor systems, and limited community presence. I had to rebuild the culture from the ground up, which meant making hard personnel decisions, retraining teams, and re-establishing trust with patients.
On top of that, juggling the demands of clinical care, business operations, and family life, especially with three young kids, has been a constant balancing act. But those early struggles taught me the value of clarity, consistency, and surrounding myself with the right people and ultimately helped me create a practice that feels genuine, patient-focused, and rooted in values that matter: trust, transparency, and top-tier care.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
One of my favorite childhood memories was riding bikes around the neighborhood with my brothers and friends until the sun went down. We’d race each other, make up games, and stop by corner stores for snacks, it was simple, but it felt like freedom. Those moments taught me the value of family, fun, and slowing down, all things I still try to hold onto today, especially now that I have kids of my own.
