Today we’d like to introduce you to Yudy Gonzalez.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’m Yudy Gonzalez, owner and creator of YudyDesigns. My grandmother taught me to sew as a child, and I used to make clothes for my dolls too. I have two children, Isabella and Lukas. My daughter is very fashionable and stylish from a young age; she payed attention to every detail in her outfits. So, I decided to learn how to make personalized bows and flowers for her hair. My designs were different from those sold in the store back then, so I decided to open social media to showcase the variety of my products and sell them. People asked me how I made them; many were mothers who lived in other countries and needed to generate income for their homes. This lead me to start making tutorials on YouTube in 2017. Today, I have more than 95K subscribers on YouTube and 91K on Facebook. I feel very proud to be the first Cuban content creator in this niche and to make it this far. The road hasn’t been easy, but I do what I’m passionate about and I’m clear about my purpose: not only to teach how to create bows and flowers, but also to give people a space that allows them to reconnect with themselves and feel free to express their creativity.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Over the years, there have been several challenges: criticism, rejection, and some people who didn’t value my time and work. These challenges made me stronger. I always say that YudyDesigns taught me much more than just how to create accessories; it showed me who I am and what I want.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Professionally, I’m an Accountant with an Associate’s Degree in Echocardiography, but since I was a child, I’ve always loved teaching others.
I was fascinated by understanding people’s behavior and emotions. Over the years, I’ve combined all my knowledge.
Today, I’m a Meditation, Mindfulness, Grounding, and Art Therapy Coach.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
As a child I was very creative, I spent my time drawing, writing stories, designing and creating clothes for my dolls with scraps of fabric.
