Tucked in the heart of Opa Locka, Florida, Clara Luz Botanica has served as a spiritual haven since 1970. Founded by my father, the revered Rev. Epy, our shop quickly became a beacon for those seeking spiritual support, healing, and empowerment. Growing up in this sacred space, I didn’t just witness miracles—I lived among them. The botanica was my home, and from a young age, I felt called to help our clients and walk the spiritual path my parents paved before me.
Born with a natural gift of sight and deep intuition, I was lovingly trained by my parents in the traditions that grounded our family legacy. In 1980, my mother expanded our reach by opening our candle factory in Cutler Bay. At 18, I became a second-generation Master Tarot Reader, and in 2020, I was honored to take ownership of Clara Luz with my father’s blessing—just one year before his passing in December 2021.
In 2022, I led a full remodel and rebranding of Clara Luz Botanica, honoring its roots while evolving it into a sacred, welcoming space where clients feel safe to grow physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. As an initiated Chango Priestess in Palo Mayombe, I’ve made it my mission to guide others in connecting to their higher selves and ancestral wisdom. Many know me as @IntuitiveBarbie13 on Instagram, where I share spiritual guidance, tarot wisdom, and insight with a growing community.
But sometimes, out of chaos comes the most divine creation.
After a devastating fire at our neighboring location, everything shifted. That night shook our world—but also planted the seed for a vision I had long held in my heart: to create a wellness center where our community could gather for deeper healing and transformation. From the ashes of that moment, Miami Spiritual Studio was born.
Today, Miami Spiritual Studio is the manifestation of that dream: a sacred space for meditation, yoga, full moon rituals, manifestation classes, and holistic connection. It is a sanctuary where culture, spirituality, and self-love unite to nourish the soul and inspire aligned living.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not at all—it’s been anything but smooth. While I’m deeply grateful for the legacy I inherited, the journey to continue it hasn’t always been easy. Taking over a business with such deep spiritual and cultural roots came with the pressure of honoring my father’s legacy while also evolving the space to reflect my own vision and energy. There was a delicate balance between preserving tradition and stepping into my own power.
One of the most significant challenges was the unexpected fire that broke out next door to our botanica. That night changed everything. We lost more than just physical space—we lost a sense of stability. But in that chaos, I found clarity. It forced me to reimagine what healing could look like in our community, and from that moment, Miami Spiritual Studio was born. What felt like a disaster became the doorway to one of my biggest dreams.
On a personal level, grief has also been a part of the journey. Losing my father in 2021, just a year after he gave me his blessing to take over, was incredibly difficult. He was not only my teacher but my spiritual anchor. Navigating business, leadership, and healing while holding space for my own mourning has been one of the most soul-stretching experiences of my life.
Through every obstacle, I’ve leaned on my faith, my ancestors, and the belief that purpose always finds its way. The road hasn’t been easy—but it has been meaningful, transformative, and divinely guided.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Absolutely. One of the biggest pieces of advice I can offer is: stay rooted in your purpose, even when the path feels uncertain. Starting a spiritual or wellness-based business isn’t like starting any other business—it requires deep faith, emotional resilience, and the courage to show up authentically, even when others might not understand your vision.
When I was starting out, I wish someone had reminded me that growth doesn’t always look graceful. There will be setbacks, slow seasons, unexpected challenges (like the fire that completely changed our course)—but those moments are not the end. Often, they’re divine redirections. Trust that every twist in the road is shaping you into the healer, guide, or leader you are meant to become.
Also, protect your energy. When you’re holding space for others, your own grounding practices—like prayer, meditation, rest, and spiritual hygiene—become non-negotiable. You can’t pour from an empty cup, and your energy is one of your most sacred tools.
Lastly, don’t be afraid to evolve. The journey will ask you to grow—and it’s okay to change your offerings, rebrand, or shift directions to better align with your truth. What matters most is that you stay connected to your “why.”
