Inspiring Conversations with Marla Warrington of Event Rhythm Productions

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marla Warrington.

Hi Marla, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
If you would’ve told me years ago that I’d be producing high-end, immersive experiences for global brands and nonprofits alike, I probably would’ve smiled and said, “Yeah, I can see that.” I’ve always had a natural ability to bring people together, make things happen behind the scenes, and—most importantly—read a room.

Before I ever launched Event Rhythm Productions, I spent decades in roles that quietly prepared me for this work. I managed teams, coordinated vendors, dealt with last-minute chaos, and always made sure things got done. I didn’t always have the title of “producer,” but I was doing the job. Whether it was working in entertainment management, experiential marketing, or even in executive roles that demanded high-level coordination and diplomacy, I was constantly building the foundation for what would become my company.

I think what really shaped my approach was this deep understanding of what it takes to bring a vision to life—not just creatively, but logistically. I’ve always had one foot in the dream and the other in the details.

Event Rhythm Productions was born out of a desire to offer something different in the Miami event scene. It wasn’t just about throwing a beautiful party or booking a great DJ (although we can definitely do that). I wanted to create experiences that swept people away—just for a night, just for a few hours. I wanted to tell stories, to build worlds, to make people feel something. And I wanted our clients to feel completely taken care of in the process.

What started as a passion project quickly grew into a full-service event production company. We’ve produced everything from elegant corporate receptions and trade show booths to immersive cultural activations and large-scale nonprofit galas. Our clients have included global brands like AMEX Business Travel, where we developed creative concepts, floor plans, and environmental design proposals for multiple summit dinners. We’ve worked with City of Doral, LIV Golf Miami, Seaspice Miami, and many others—each event crafted to reflect the client’s voice and values.

Along the way, I also became a slow flow yoga instructor, which might seem unrelated at first glance—but it’s not. Yoga brought me back to my breath, to intention, to energy. I began incorporating mindfulness and even sacred mantras into my classes. And the more I deepened my own personal practices, the more I brought that sense of calm, clarity, and presence into my business. Now, whether I’m planning a high-stakes conference or guiding a class through savasana, it’s all part of the same rhythm: hold space, set the tone, guide the experience.

Of course, growing a company hasn’t been all flow and ease. Like many entrepreneurs, I’ve had to learn how to sell myself, how to delegate, how to deal with flaky clients and missed payments. I’ve worked with SEO teams that overpromised and underdelivered. I’ve built pitch decks at 2AM and led production meetings hours later with a smile. But through all of it, I’ve stayed anchored in one thing: every detail matters, because every moment matters.

Where I’m at now is both exciting and a little scary. We’re scaling. We’re competing with top-tier agencies. We’re bidding on full-scale conferences, leading creative direction, and handling everything from sponsor activations to staffing models and sustainability plans. I’m also building out a sales team and refining the systems that will help Event Rhythm grow without losing our heart.

If I had to sum it up, I’d say this: I’m not just in the business of events. I’m in the business of experience. And everything I’ve done up to this point—every job, every challenge, every yoga class, every production call—has brought me here. To this moment. To this rhythm.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not even close to a smooth road — but I don’t think the smooth road teaches you much, does it?

There have been plenty of struggles along the way, both personal and professional. When I first launched Event Rhythm Productions, I had the passion and vision, but I didn’t have all the pieces in place. I knew how to produce — I knew how to create magic — but the business side of things was a whole other learning curve. Pricing, proposals, contracts, negotiations… I had to learn all of that through experience. And, to be honest, sometimes through hard lessons.

One of the biggest challenges has been dealing with clients who delay payments or undervalue the creative process. You pour your heart and time into bringing someone’s vision to life, only to be chasing invoices weeks after the event. That part stings, especially when you’re a small business putting everything on the line to deliver high-level results.

I’ve also worked with vendors and contractors who didn’t show up the way they promised to. As someone who takes pride in being reliable and thoughtful, it’s incredibly frustrating when that level of care isn’t reciprocated — and yet, you’re the one held accountable because you’re the face of the event.

Then there’s scaling — which is its own beast. At a certain point, I realized that if I wanted to grow, I couldn’t do everything myself. But finding the right people to represent your brand, to carry your energy and your values — that takes time. I’ve explored hiring salespeople, working with freelancers, trying different SEO agencies — and not all of those relationships worked out. Some were expensive mistakes. But each one taught me something.

And behind all of that is the emotional work: trusting myself, staying grounded, not giving in to burnout, and learning when to say no. That’s where yoga and mindfulness really helped. It reminded me that my energy is my currency. If I’m not in alignment, the event won’t be either.

So no — it hasn’t been smooth. But every bump in the road has sharpened my instincts, clarified my values, and ultimately made Event Rhythm stronger. I don’t regret any of it. I just keep learning, adjusting, and moving forward — one beautifully produced moment at a time.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
About Event Rhythm Productions: Where Vision Meets Vibe

Event Rhythm Productions is a full-service event production company based in Miami — but we like to say we’re in the business of crafting moments that move people.

We specialize in high-caliber, story-driven experiences for brands, nonprofits, and cultural institutions. Our work spans everything from immersive brand activations and corporate summits to elegant nonprofit galas, custom trade show booths, and luxury private events. If it has to be thoughtful, bold, and unforgettable — that’s where we shine.

What we’re known for is our ability to translate a client’s vision into a full sensory experience. It’s never just about décor or AV — it’s about how the space makes people feel, how the narrative unfolds from entry to exit, and how every element connects to something bigger. Whether we’re producing a summit dinner, curating a launch event, or designing a wellness activation for a nonprofit, we approach it all with the same mantra: It has to be intentional, and it has to be next level.

What sets us apart?
It’s our creative-meets-logistical balance. We dream big, but we also get things done. We can design the look, source the talent, manage the vendors, direct the show, and run the numbers — all under one roof. And because we’re not a massive agency with red tape, we’re nimble and highly collaborative.

We’re also known for bringing a lot of heart and energy to the process. Our clients don’t just get a service — they get a partner who truly cares about the outcome. We bring a soulful touch to what can sometimes be a very transactional industry.

What I’m most proud of brand-wise?
We’ve positioned ourselves to compete with the top players while staying true to our values. We’ve had the honor of bidding on major projects with global companies — and we’ve done it without losing our authenticity or watering down our style. We’re bold, luxe, creative — but still deeply human. That balance is everything to me.

For your readers, here’s what I want you to know about Event Rhythm:
If you’re looking for an event production partner who will bring originality, precision, and purpose to your experience — we’re your people. Whether you’re planning a large-scale conference, launching a product, or hosting a fundraiser that needs to wow, we’ll help you create something that people remember — not because it was flashy, but because it felt different.

And at the end of the day, that’s what we do best: we produce moments that people don’t forget.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
Where I See the Industry Heading in the Next 5–10 Years

The event production industry is evolving — fast. Over the next decade, I think we’re going to see a few major shifts that will redefine how we design and deliver experiences.

1. Experiential Will Go Deeper, Not Just Bigger
It’s no longer enough to be flashy. Clients and attendees are craving meaningful, emotionally resonant experiences — events that tell a story, have depth, and leave a lasting impact. The best events will blend immersive design with intentional messaging, and that’s where companies like Event Rhythm will thrive. We’re already seeing a move away from generic, one-size-fits-all events to bespoke moments that reflect a brand’s values, purpose, and vibe.

2. Tech Integration Will Be Non-Negotiable
From AI-powered registration systems to interactive projection mapping and blockchain-based ticketing, technology is going to continue reshaping events. But the key isn’t just using tech for the sake of it — it’s about integrating it seamlessly to enhance the experience. I see a future where personalization, data-driven storytelling, and hybrid capabilities are baked into every event.

3. Sustainability Will Be Standard
Sustainability is no longer a nice-to-have. In the next 5–10 years, it will be a requirement — both from a brand reputation standpoint and a regulatory one. Clients will expect green production practices, minimal waste, and eco-conscious vendors. I’m already making this a focus within our proposals — from décor repurposing to plant-based menus to energy-efficient AV setups.

4. Wellness and Mindfulness Will Play a Bigger Role
Post-pandemic, there’s been a huge shift toward experiences that nurture mental health, emotional wellness, and human connection. That’s not going away. I believe we’ll see more events incorporating wellness lounges, guided meditations, restorative spaces, and slower, more intentional pacing — even at corporate functions.

5. Creative Strategy Will Be Just as Important as Logistics
Clients are starting to lean on production companies not just to execute — but to co-create. That means creative direction, storytelling, brand integration, and marketing strategy will become more closely tied to event planning. Production teams will need to think like agencies, not just coordinators.

So where does Event Rhythm fit into all of this?
Right at the intersection of creativity, intention, and execution. We’re already building for this future — offering full-concept development, sustainable production models, tech-forward solutions, and emotionally intelligent design.

The next decade is going to belong to those who can marry innovation with meaning. And I’m excited to lead Event Rhythm into that next wave.
