Hi Alyssa, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my journey in the industry about 10 years ago, thanks to my dad’s hairdresser. He was looking for an assistant, and my dad immediately said, ‘Hire my daughter!’. That’s how I got my start. Sweeping floors, washing hair, and learning the basics from the ground up.
Over the years, I worked my way up from being a commission stylist to eventually building my own business. One of the most rewarding milestones for me has been opening the first head spa in all of South Florida and watching it thrive! It’s been incredible to see the growing demand for our services and the positive response from clients booking appointments months in advance. It’s a reflection of how much people appreciate the unique and relaxing experience we offer, and I’m incredibly grateful for that.
I always knew I wanted to be an entrepreneur and business owner one day I always thought it would be something I’d do as 50 year old but instead I’m a 30 year old women business owner.
I’ve always believed that if you spend your career solely helping someone else achieve their dreams, you miss the opportunity to build your own. While I’m grateful for the experiences that have shaped me, I’ve always had the drive to grow, set new goals, and create opportunities not just for myself, but for others as well!
In that being said, I’m excited about the journey ahead and the chance to continue evolving, both as a business owner and as someone who can make an impact in the hair and spa industry.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road hasn’t always been smooth, and there were definitely struggles along the way. One of the biggest challenges for me was the fear of failure. Opening a business is scary…there’s so much uncertainty, and it’s easy to question whether you’re making the right decisions. For a long time, I struggled with the fear of not going for it at all, wondering if I was just too early or not ready. But the truth is, starting a business is never easy. If it were, everyone would be doing it. The key is taking that leap despite the fear and just trusting that you’ll learn and grow through the process. And really, that’s what life is all about…taking risks, learning from setbacks, and continuing to move forward.
