Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Growing up in Colombia, I was surrounded by a vibrant culture and an appreciation for quality craftsmanship. Textiles were always a source of pride in my country, and little did I know, it would become a defining element of my own entrepreneurial journey.
In 2000, I moved to the United States. Life led me through various experiences, but one of the most significant was meeting my soulmate in Miami. For the past 21 years, we have built a beautiful life together, raising our three sons—Zach, 17, Ty, 15, and my stepson, Devin, 25. Through many work-related moves, we lived in different parts of the world and all throughout the United States, experiencing diverse cultures and landscapes. However, in 2024, life brought us full circle with a move back to South Florida, and we found ourselves settling back in Palm Beach County, a place we love.
With this fresh start came an opportunity. A longing to create something meaningful and unique. With a deep appreciation for high-quality textiles and an eye for creativity, I knew this was my chance. Then, Nine Trends was born.
Nine Trends began as a clothing brand inspired by the beauty of Palm Beach County. My first collection, the Landmark Collection, was designed to capture the essence of this stunning coastal paradise. Whether it’s a visitor wanting to take home a tangible memory, or a local looking to represent their community in style, Nine Trends offers high-quality, stylish t-shirts that embody the spirit of the area.
Nine Trends is more than just a clothing brand—it’s a way to give back. I couldn’t start this journey without incorporating a mission that aligned with my values. That’s why a portion of every sale goes toward a local charity dedicated to keeping our beaches clean and free of plastic. Palm Beach County has given so much to my family, and it was important that my business reflected a commitment to preserving its natural beauty.
Today, Nine Trends operates as an online store offering free shipping, and we’ve also made a mark at local Farmers Markets near Jupiter, Florida.
Being in front of people, sharing our story, and seeing their enthusiasm for our designs has been an incredible experience and we look forward to continuing to push our designs and deliver quality products to our region.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Starting a business from scratch has been an exhilarating and challenging experience. I have learned so much, not only about running a company but also about perseverance, creativity, and the dedication it takes to turn a passion into a reality. It has been incredibly rewarding to show my sons firsthand what it means to work hard for something you believe in. However, it hasn’t been without its struggles—making sure all the right forms and legalities are in place, consistently creating fresh content, keeping up with evolving social media trends, and finding new ways to engage my audience have all been learning experiences. Balancing these aspects while staying true to my vision has tested my resilience, but every challenge has been an opportunity to grow and refine the brand.
