Conversations with Sebastian LiPuma

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sebastian LiPuma.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Born in New York but raised in Orlando, Sebastian has always had a desire to live in a big city filled with culture and diversity. This desire only grew from his family’s love and passion for travel. Because of his Colombian background Sebastian speaks both English and Spanish. At a young age he was able to experience several other cultures from Colombia to Japan and many places in-between.

Through these experiences of traveling and experiencing different cultures, Sebastian discovered his true passion, real estate. He made the decision to move to Miami to pursue his career in real estate where he is now proud to be part of the award – winning Chad Carroll Group, the leading real estate team in Miami that has closed over $7 Billion in sales since 2011 and has been recognized as being one of the top 25 teams in the Nation.

Sebastian believes, “being a real estate agent is not just about buying or selling – it is about creating meaningful relationships and connecting people to the right property so they can create lasting memories with their loved ones”.

Besides Sebastian’s passion for real estate, he also obtained his Bachelors of Science degree in Alternative Medicine from Everglades University. Using this degree, Sebastian was able to sharpen his communication and sales skills, which he now translates into real estate today.

Serving the areas from Coral Gables to Ft Lauderdale and everything in-between, Sebastian prides himself on his ability to successfully bring a property and client together. Knowing that buying or selling a home will be one of the most important transactions of his clients’ life, he puts his client’s needs ahead of his own, holding himself to the highest possible standard to ensure his clients experience is as smooth and as stress free as possible.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Navigating a career in real estate certainly comes with its own set of challenges, but the biggest challenge I’ve faced was a deeply personal one. Shortly after I moved to Miami to start my journey, my dad, who was my best friend, passed away unexpectedly.

I had just FaceTimed him that morning, showing him my new apartment downtown. He was so proud and excited for me. Later that day, my mom called and simply said, ‘You need to come home right now.’ I didn’t know what had happened, but I could tell from her voice that it was serious. The moment I hung up, I was overwhelmed, I collapsed to the floor in tears. After a few minutes I then gathered myself, packed a bag, and drove to Orlando. When I arrived at the hospital, I received the worst news imaginable: my dad had passed away from a heart attack.

It was devastating. It shook me to my core, and being in the middle of COVID only made it harder, we couldn’t even hold a funeral for nearly two months. During that time, I was torn between moving back home to support my mom or continuing the path I’d started in Miami. After many conversations with her and the rest of my family, we decided I should stay in Miami, but I made a promise to visit her every month, or have her visit me. Five years later, we’ve kept that promise, and we talk almost every day.

This experience tested me more than anything else in my life, but it also gave me a deeper sense of purpose and resilience. I carry my dad with me in everything I do, and I truly believe he’s still guiding me toward bigger and greater things.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a luxury real estate advisor in Miami Beach, specializing in high-end listings/sales, pre-construction developments, and exclusive waterfront properties. I work with a mix of domestic and international clients, helping them find not just homes, but long-term investments and lifestyle-driven residences.

What I’m most proud of is my ability to create real, lasting relationships with clients. I go beyond the transaction—offering concierge-level service and market expertise that earns trust and often leads to repeat business and referrals. I’m known for being extremely responsive, detail-oriented, and strategic when it comes to negotiations.

What sets me apart is my understanding of the luxury market’s nuances, paired with a sharp eye for design and architecture. Having been part of the Chad Carroll Group for nearly five years, I’ve developed a deep knowledge of Miami’s most sought-after neighborhoods and an insider’s perspective on where the market is headed.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, I was actually a pretty shy and introverted kid. I wasn’t really into sports at first—instead, I was more drawn to things like movies, cars, and video games. I could spend hours getting lost in a great story or customizing cars in a game. But once I got to high school, I started branching out more and pushing myself socially. I got involved in sports like lacrosse and track and field, and I even got into weightlifting. It helped me come out of my shell and build a lot of confidence that I carry with me now.
