Today we’d like to introduce you to Edwin Santiago
Hi Edwin, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Basketball has always been a central part of my life. I played Division 1 at the University of Delaware from 2007 to 2011, competing at a high level and pushing my body to its limits every day. After college, I had the opportunity to play professional basketball in Puerto Rico, which was an incredible experience. But once my playing career ended, I faced a familiar question that many athletes do: What’s next?
I knew I wanted to stay connected to sports and movement, and fitness had always been a passion of mine. So, I took my first step in that direction by getting certified through NASM as a CPT (Certified Personal Trainer), PES (Performance Enhancement Specialist), and CES (Corrective Exercise Specialist). I wanted to help others improve their athletic performance, but I didn’t yet realize how deep my interest in biomechanics and injury prevention would become.
From 2012 to 2015, I worked at ATI Physical Therapy as a rehab tech while also going back to school to become a Physical Therapy Assistant. It was during my time at ATI that I gained a much deeper understanding of rehab, movement patterns, and biomechanics. I worked with countless individuals recovering from injuries, and I saw firsthand how movement could either heal or hinder recovery. But there was one major issue—I wasn’t a physical therapist. And while I respected the profession, I started to realize I wanted to help people differently. I didn’t want to just guide them through a rehab protocol; I wanted to get to the root cause of their pain and help them move pain-free without going through traditional therapy or surgery.
This realization led me to make a big move—literally. I left Delaware and relocated to Miami, where I started working at Anatomy, one of the top training facilities in the city. I spent five years there, refining my skills, learning from some of the best in the industry, and working with a wide range of clients. During that time, I was introduced to a brilliant woman named Beth Howzen (@beth33139), who introduced me to the Postural Restoration Institute (PRI). That moment changed everything for me.
PRI opened my eyes to the power of breathing mechanics and how they influence nearly every aspect of movement—stress levels, muscle tightness, joint stiffness, pain, and overall athletic performance. I became obsessed with learning more, taking courses, and applying these techniques with my clients. But I didn’t stop there.
I sought out knowledge from some of the top movement and rehab specialists in the world—people like Gary Ward, Cal Dietz, Dave O’Sullivan, and from methodologies like IKN (Integrated Kinetic Neurology). I also took four PRI courses to deepen my understanding of asymmetry, gait mechanics, and postural adaptation.
Another game-changing moment for me was learning about the Lymphatic System under Dr. Perry Nickelston. This course completely shifted my perspective on pain, movement, and recovery. I realized that poor fluid circulation, congestion, and lymphatic dysfunction could be major contributors to chronic pain. This was another missing piece—most rehab approaches focus purely on muscles, joints, and mobility, but if your body’s internal systems aren’t functioning optimally, it will always struggle to heal and move efficiently.
Then, in 2019, I had a career-defining opportunity—I got to work with MLB superstar and future Hall of Famer Miguel Cabrera. He was struggling with chronic low back, knee, and hip pain, especially when swinging. Like many athletes, he had tried various treatments, but nothing truly resolved the issue. When I introduced him to breathing techniques and movement optimization, he was shocked at how much better his body felt. After two months of working together, he told me his movements felt the best they had in years. That experience solidified my confidence in what I was doing. From there, I had the chance to work with NBA player Jabari Parker (dealing with knee pain) and WNBA MVP Elena Delle Donne (recovering from back surgery).
Then COVID hit. Like many, I took that time to reassess my career path. I decided to commit to building my practice—MVMNT by E.S, a private and online service that helps adults move and stay young without pain (common issues my clients have include lower back tightness, limited hip mobility, Sciatica, patellar tendon pain, plantar fasciitis, hamstring tightness, hip impingement, piriformis syndrome, meniscus pain, and shoulder impingement etc). Over the past four years, I’ve been growing my business, and helping clients with lingering injuries and movement limitations.
Most of my clients fall into three categories:
1. Former athletes who have old injuries that never fully healed.
2. Recreational athletes who deal with chronic pain and have tried physical therapy or chiropractic care but haven’t found lasting relief.
3. Active adults over 35 who experience joint pain after playing sports like basketball, golf, pickleball, tennis, or running.
What all my clients have in common is that they don’t want to feel old. They want to move freely, stay active, and age on their own terms. The problem is, once you start moving poorly—or worse, stop moving altogether—you mentally start to feel old. My goal with MVMNT by E.S. is simple: help people move well, stay young, and age slowly, not quickly.
This is about more than just fitness or rehab for me—it’s about helping people redefine what’s possible for their bodies at any age. And I’m just getting started.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Building MVMNT by E.S. wasn’t easy—it took risk, resilience, and patience. Leaving a stable job was one of the hardest decisions I made, but I knew I wanted to break away from the standard rehab and training model. I wanted the freedom to help people in a way that actually worked, not just what insurance covered or what traditional methods dictated.
The biggest challenge was educating people on why my approach works when PT and chiropractic often fall short for them. Many clients had spent months or years trying traditional rehab, only to end up frustrated. I had to show them that pain isn’t just about the knee, back, or hip—it’s about how the entire body, emotions, and nervous system work together.
Competing with the insurance model was another hurdle. Many clients wanted to try PT first since it was covered, only to return later still dealing with pain. I don’t blame them—but I also knew that my approach could get them results faster and with less effort.
Despite the challenges, I stayed committed because I knew my methods worked. I had already helped professional athletes, but proving my value to recreational athletes took time. Through social media, education, and client success stories, the right people started to find me—those frustrated with traditional rehab and ready for something different.
Now, 85% of my clients are global and virtual, and MVMNT by E.S. has become a trusted resource for former athletes and active adults looking to move better, stay young, and eliminate pain for good. The journey wasn’t easy, but seeing my clients regain confidence in their bodies makes it all worth it.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
MVMNT by E.S. isn’t just another rehab or training program—it’s a smarter, more effective way for former athletes, recreational athletes (35+), and active adults to eliminate pain, move better, and stay active without endless rehab.
Many of my clients have tried everything—physical therapy, chiropractic care, stretching, foam rolling—yet they still struggle with pain and stiffness. That’s because most rehab and training methods focus on strengthening what’s weak, stretching what’s tight, and foam rolling to “release” tension. But if those methods truly worked long-term, people wouldn’t keep dealing with the same recurring issues.
At MVMNT by E.S., I take a holistic, full-body approach that targets the root cause of movement limitations—not just symptoms. My method is simple—we assess your entire body to find what’s missing. Once we understand that, we give your body the right movements to restore balance, so other areas can relax instead of overworking and causing pain.
With this integrative approach, my clients get results faster—without spending months on generic rehab exercises. Instead of just “getting through the day,” they regain mobility, eliminate pain, and return to the activities they love.
I’ve worked with professional athletes like Miguel Cabrera, Jabari Parker, and Elena Delle Donne, but my true passion is helping everyday athletes and active adults break free from pain and stiffness. 85% of my clients are now global and virtual, proving that movement optimization goes beyond in-person rehab.
If you’re an active adult who wants to move better, stay young, and stop dealing with pain and stiffness, I offer one-on-one coaching, movement assessments, and customized programs designed to fix the root cause of pain—not just mask symptoms—so you can perform at your best and get lasting results with fewer exercises.
The most common thing I hear? “I wish I found you sooner.” My goal is to help people avoid unnecessary surgeries, months of ineffective rehab, and the frustration of feeling like their body is working against them.

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
COVID-19 changed everything for me. When gyms shut down, I had to rethink my entire approach. I realized I didn’t need a gym to help people move better and eliminate pain—I just needed the right system. Going virtual proved that real results could happen anywhere. More people started prioritizing their health, searching for long-term solutions beyond traditional rehab. That’s when I went all in on MVMNT by E.S.
Now, I am able offer my service to clients all over the world, and help former athletes and active adults move better, stay young, and eliminate pain—without being in the same room. COVID taught me that adaptability is everything, and the right approach can make all the difference.
