Today we’d like to introduce you to Paulina Cruz
Hi Paulina, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I was born and raised in Pereira, Risaralda, Colombia. I came to America when I was 19 and landed in Miami. Coming to America is not an easy journey but it has made me who I am today. I arrived in Miami in 2017 which was a great city for me to continue on my fitness journey. Fitness has always been my anchor for mental and physical strength.
I realized the power of social media in 2020 and began to post content that soon went viral. I moved to LA in 2022 to take my social media career seriously. This helped me shape and grow as a creator and person. I love LA as it was a great training ground for me to grow and it helped teach me how to go through adversity and hardship.
Now back in Miami, I have started my own clothing brand with my friend and business partner, called Balance. We are a premium women’s athleisure wear brand and have just launched as of late last year. Exciting times ahead and I always focus on continuing to grow as a person.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I don’t think anyone in life ever has a smooth road. We all have struggles on our journey, I think that’s how we grow and part of why we are here on earth. Like most others, we all share similar feelings of struggle, just different situations. My situation was not unique, rather, one felt my many immigrants to a new country. I had to find my way in all aspects of life, from purpose, to friends, and importantly, survival.
One of the biggest struggles I have encountered is communication and language. When I first landed in LA, it was a very difficult transition because not as many people spoke spanish and I was forced to learn how to communicate better. I am so thankful for that. Most people don’t know how difficult it is to learn a new language while not being understood.
I think financial struggle and survival is also difficult as an immigrant because we only have ourselves to rely on. So if I am not making enough there is nothing to fall back on. That level of self reliance develops strong character but in order to do so, there have been times where I have had to forego a lot of luxuries and even some necessities.
We’ve been impressed with Balance , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I absolutely LOVE looking cute and great in the gym and I think all women feel the same way and need to do so. I have always had this love and everytime I wear something cute my confidence sky rockets. I want ALL women to feel like this and this passion sparked the beginning of my business creating women’s clothing to make them ALL feel SEXY no matter their shape, size, or age. We just launched in November of 2024 and have seen a huge interest already with repeat customers so I know turning passion into purpose works. This is also what sets us apart.
Me and my partner are so proud of ourselves for taking the risk, investing in something we believe in when we don’t have much comfort, and going for it. I would love all my readers to check out our site and if they love the product, please support our growing brand.
We called it Balance because we believe in living a balanced life physically, mentally and spiritually. And a balanced life includes an active life!
