Meet Milu Nichols of Doral, Miami

Today we’d like to introduce you to Milu Nichols

Hi Milu, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Hello, I am happy to share a bit of my story today!
In 2019, I moved to Indiana, where I discovered an incredible opportunity to start my own business by sharing the delicious flavors of Peru through a traditional dessert: Alfajores. As a marketer, I knew that the first step was to come up with a memorable and catchy brand name—something easy to pronounce in English while maintaining the essence of the original dessert name. After some brainstorming, I chose “Alfies” and started to build the branding full of details and love.

I initially started this as a hobby selling alfajores at local Farmers Markets. To my delight, the response was overwhelming, and my alfajores were so well received that I had the honor of being featured in a local newspaper article, where I shared my story as an entrepreneur. The positive feedback from customers, especially in a new town, was incredibly rewarding.

In 2022, my family (my husband, our first son, and I) embarked on a new adventure when we moved to Miami, Florida. Despite the change, I couldn’t let go of my dream to grow my brand and that is how I decided to balance my roles as a mother, a full-time employee, and an entrepreneur, continuing to nurture my delicatessen business.

My motivational quote is: “You always enjoy success when you embrace what you do, with love.” and I’m truly grateful for the opportunity to do what I love every day.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The journey is enjoyable, but it’s not necessarily easy, especially when being a mother of 2 kids and having a full-time job. Also, the audience I was targeting in the beginning is different from the one I’m reaching now, which has led me to adapt my product as well. Ultimately, the support of my family and my closest friends serves as a powerful motivation, driving me to continually strive for success.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I hold a Master’s degree in marketing with nine years of experience in the Automotive Luxury industry, driving projects focused on customer experience, satisfaction and business growth. I also consider myself as an entrepreneur not only because of my Alfies brand but also because I am part of the Airbnb community renting an apartment in Lima. One of the things I am most proud of is that the vision of my dreams serves as a constant motivation to give my best -also something that I have learned from my lovely parents since I was a child. For example, today I have the family I always desired, and at the same time, I am working in the Regional office of the brand I worked for locally when I lived in my original country. Thank God, the opportunity to grow both professionally and personally is something that remains constant.
What sets us apart is my commitment to quality and authenticity. We blend traditional recipes with innovative shapes and new ideas to stand out as a brand. My passion for what I do is personal, and that’s reflected in the care I put into each product including all the little details on them. Additionally, I always focus on connecting with our customers in a meaningful way, ensuring a memorable experience every time.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
I am always open to collaborating with like-minded businesses, influencers, or creators who share our passion for quality and unique flavors. Whether it’s through joint promotions or special projects, I love exploring creative partnerships! In addition, the best way to support us is by trying our alfajores and sharing the experience on social media. Reviews and word-of-mouth go a long way in helping us grow. Every little bit of support makes a difference and help us to grow”
