Check Out Jackie Noe’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jackie Noe

Hi Jackie, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador. At the age of six, I remember seeing rolls of textiles at home and listening to the noise of the sewing machine in the attic where we lived. I can close my eyes and can still see the stairs that will take me to the attic which was also my parent’s bedroom. My parents were in the textile undergarment industry and made boxers to be delivered to small businesses. Growing up and watching my mother also tracing the lines of the patterns she made for my sisters and me, to create clothes for us and herself. I also grew up during the Paper Dolls era. Going to the store was exciting to see a new doll with new fashion clothes of seven to ten outfits from bathing suits, casual outfits, party dresses, to wedding gowns. I came to America at the age of 10 with my parents, and my siblings in 1974. The first thing my mother bought was a sewing machine and started buying patterns and fabric to create clothes for us. She made winter jackets for us too! I helped my mom trace the lines of the patterns and also enjoyed cutting them with her special silver scissors. Since growing up in the Paper Dolls Era, I started drawing and creating paper dolls and their outfits. At the age of ten, I won my first award by drawing a photo from a magazine. I noticed that I can imagine and create things by drawing. I also started learning about types of fabric and loved smelling the clean fabric. This has helped me in the fashion bridal industry to see a bride, listen to the vision she has, and create her dream dress for the special day of her life. My journey began with boxers to wedding gowns. When you care enough about people and you’re passionate about what you do, amazing things happen.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of my favorite obstacles to overcome is when a bride comes in for an appointment and tells me her wedding is in a week or less and needs a miracle. One of the many miracles was my bride from Canada. She came in on a Tuesday morning. The first dress I pulled off the rack, was the dress she fell in love with. It fit her like a glove. She called her mom who arrived 10 mins later and said Yes to the Dress! The catch was she wanted the dress hemmed to tea length with no train and was leaving back to Canada the next day. I was able to create her dream dress in less than 24 hours!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Through my years of experience, I started accepting customized requests from brides. I believe it’s important for every bride to have their gown personalized for their special day. I’ve worked with other brands in the past where their designs were “as is” with no special requests. That’s when I realized I needed to be the one to bring my bride’s visions to life. Hence, where the story of your dream dress begins! I have recreated deep plunging v-neck gowns to halters, customized detachable skirts, customized veils, customized detachable sleeves, etc. It’s amazing to see the glow on my bride’s face and their eyes light up with happy emotions when I bring their vision to life. I find creating that special look for my brides to set them apart from others is extremely important in this industry.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Essential qualities I provide to my brides are a more personable and intimate environment during their appointment. Listening to their vision, paying attention to details, and lots are patience are essential. Also honesty! Yes, there will be gowns where you look beautiful in all of them, but that’s where my expertise comes in. Some gowns are made for taller brides. Some gowns can cut you in half at the waist and can make you look square and boxy (which no bride wants). That’s when I will recommend something different to try on and brides become blown away at the difference. We also offer consultations over the phone. Since I have worked at other bridal stores in the past, I wanted my store to be different. We are a family-owned business. I have my husband and daughter that also work with me. Our passion is helping our brides find their dream dress and making that moment memorable and exciting!
