Today we’d like to introduce you to Simone Mayer
Hi Simone, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Creativity, gratitude, and a deep passion for design have always guided my journey. Growing up in a family immersed in design and manufacturing, I developed an early appreciation for craftsmanship and the power of innovation to transform lives. After earning my MBA from Columbia University, I worked with renowned brands like Coach and Viacom, where I gained invaluable experience in product development and brand strategy. These opportunities laid the groundwork for me to branch out and build something of my own.
One of my most rewarding projects has been SanctuaryMimo, where I transformed a crumbling, mid-century church into a vibrant event venue in Miami’s MIMO district. It’s a space that embodies my belief in creating environments that inspire connection and community. My story is about transforming challenges into opportunities, breaking boundaries, and using design to make a meaningful impact.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I seek a balance between innovation and functionality in my work and am always mindful of how my designs shape experiences. As Co-Founder, CEO, and Chief Creative Officer of FOH®, I’m very proud to have built a globally recognized company that has revolutionized the food service and hospitality industries. I’m even more proud to have built our incredible FOH® worldwide family, which has been instrumental in growing FOH® with me. Through our award-winning brands, Front of the House® and room360®, we’ve reimagined solutions for restaurants and hotels that deliver thoughtful designs that elevate everyday moments.
For me, design isn’t just about products or spaces. It’s about creating solutions and environments that evoke connection, positive vibes, and confidence. SanctuaryMimo required the structural and design overhaul of a landmark Miami community hub from another time. I leaned into that vision, committed to the adaptive reuse and transformation of its 14,000 sf. It is now a dynamic hub for celebration, connection, and creativity, sought out by locals and clients worldwide. Whether designing innovative tools for hospitality or reimagining venues, I’m passionate about pushing boundaries and creating something meaningful for the industries and communities I care deeply about.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Sanctuary MiMo?
Sanctuary MiMo is more than an event venue, it’s an experience. Nestled in the heart of the MiMo District, this one-of-a-kind 14,000 sq. ft space blends iconic mid-century modern design with contemporary sophistication, creating the perfect backdrop for unforgettable moments.
From intimate gatherings to grand celebrations, Sanctuary MiMo is where timeless charm meets cutting-edge style, offering a canvas as unique as the events it hosts.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I’m drawn to things that inspire creativity and connection. I love spaces that tell a story and bring people together, so naturally, I enjoy collaborating with clients to see their visions come to life within our venue. I also love working with teams that bring expertise and enthusiasm to every project—creating inspirational and memorable events together is so rewarding.
On the other hand, I’m not a fan of anything that feels impersonal or rushed. Every detail matters, and those who work with me know that. Ultimately, my likes and dislikes reflect my dedication to creating meaningful experiences through design, collaboration, and by curating unforgettable moments at SanctuaryMimo.
