Daily Inspiration: Meet Hillary Bitar

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hillary Bitar

Hi Hillary, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hi Voyage MIA!
I’m Hillary-also known on social media as The Silverstorm. I just turned 63 and have been modeling full time for well over a decade.
My mission is fighting ageism and breaking boundaries in society and beauty industry obsessed with youth.

The journey began when I did some modeling in my late teens but I wasn’t the typical blonde beauty that agencies wanted. I was very dark haired and hazel eyed. Little did I know, but my hair color would be the catalyst to launch my career!

My hair turned grey in my 30s -I never dyed it despite the enormous societal pressure to. I loved the unique hair color and proudly kept it long and wavy.

That rebellious streak paid off and at 50 yrs old, I was now represented by the most prestigious modeling agencies locally and in Europe. Clients loved my all natural look.
I have been featured in advertisements worldwide for beauty, fashion, fitness, health and tourism to name a few.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It wasn’t as easy road at all even after being signed. Modeling is a brutally tough business at any age- but I was determined to break stereotypes of what a mature woman should look like And to do it without enhancements. I believe women should have options and do what makes them feel best. I am only against the Expectations and the Pressure to erase wrinkles and hide our age at all cost.

Through social media I have spoken to hundreds of my followers as they shared their journeys and thanks for my inspiration to embrace their own aging and not fear it.

I am truly honored to have been one of the pioneers of gray haired models to represent mature women in the media. My goal was to show that Vibrancy and Vitality does not have an expiration date- and I think I have succeeded – although I am far from over.
My advice is always to be You-confident and shine bright at any age.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I work as a mature model for commercials and print advertising. I am most known for my long gray hair, freckles and usually smiling in my photos! I am most proud of being real in a world of fake and that I have helped other women to feel better about their unique traits. It makes me different to embrace aging naturally but with vitality. Age really is just a number.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
A fave memory is remembering the unconditional support of my mom and dad. Throughout the years and challenges, they taught me to never give up on my dreams. that my unique light will always shine bright get noticed and make a difference. I think they would be proud😊
