Life & Work with Valeria Lasak of Miami

Today we’d like to introduce you to Valeria Lasak

Hi Valeria, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’m Vale, a multifaceted entrepreneur. I was born and raised in Peru, an only child from a city called Trujillo. I grew up surrounded by love, family, and a lot of friends. I’ve always loved standing out—whether as the queen of the Olympics at my local country club, the president of one of the school Olympic houses, or the queen of my beach town’s carnival. My summers were spent at the beach, surfing and playing sports with friends and family. I was top 10 in my school but always a bit of a rebel.

At 18, I won a scholarship to study in Chile for two years, and from that moment, my mom knew I wasn’t coming back to my small town! After Chile, I won another scholarship to study in Canada. Once I graduated with my bachelor’s degree, I went on a 3-month solo trip through Europe, which was life-changing. I also earned a scholarship to study with Google in Spain during this time. I made it work on just 600 euros per month, relying on friends I had in different cities. After Europe, I spent summers in Atlanta visiting family and taking care of my cousins. It was during one of these trips that I used Bumble for the first time and matched with a guy who, 8 years later, is now my husband.

After six months in the U.S., I moved to Madrid to complete my MBA. My boyfriend (now husband) followed me there, and we spent the most amazing summer together. I then returned to Peru to begin my advertising and marketing career. I scaled quickly, going from an analyst to the head of performance. When COVID hit, I was fortunate to work remotely from the U.S. But in August 2023, I was let go from my job, which became the push I needed to step into entrepreneurship.

Becoming an entrepreneur wasn’t my initial dream or goal, but it’s been the best discovery of who I truly am. Right now, I co-own a fashion marketing agency with clients in Miami, NYC, Chicago, and LA. I’m also a creator in Miami and passionate about building communities of women entrepreneurs and creators in the city. Beyond that, I love Pilates and having cafecitos with friends all over Miami.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been a smooth road—far from it, but every challenge has shaped me into who I am today. When I first moved to Miami, I was incredibly naive and trusting, with broken English, no connections, and no established network. My impostor syndrome often made me second-guess myself, especially as a Latina navigating new spaces.

One of the toughest lessons came when I trusted and shared my business dreams and ideas too freely, only to have some people play the “friend” role while taking advantage of those ideas. One of the most pivotal moments was when a friend encouraged me to start a business together after I was let go from my job. We built the business quickly, attracting clients within three months. But a disagreement led to this person locking me out of the accounts and taking the business for herself.

It was devastating, but it also pushed me to a whole new level. I chose to move on, and from that experience, I’ve since built four more businesses and gained confidence I didn’t know I had. What truly kept me going was the overwhelming love and support I received from my community—it reminded me of the power of strong connections and how important it is to surround yourself with the right people. Every struggle has been a stepping stone to where I am today, and I wouldn’t trade the lessons for anything.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m in a phase of my life where I’m juggling more than what feels possible in 24 hours, but I’m maximizing my time and hustling while I still have the energy to make it all happen.

My day starts at 5am. I take time to meditate and stretch, calming my mind before the whirlwind begins. I usually head to a Pure Barre or Pilates class at 6 AM, which sets the tone for the rest of my day. By 7 AM, I’m back home editing videos for the brands I collaborate with as a creator/influencer in Miami. Brands love connecting with my community, so I often work on content that bridges that gap.

At 8 AM, I have breakfast, and by 9 AM, I’m diving into emails with a matcha in hand. While I don’t work a traditional 9-5, my fashion marketing agency has me fully dedicated to clients during those hours. I respond to emails, create strategies, and coordinate with my team to ensure everything runs smoothly. Some days, I’m on location shooting content or at photoshoots; weekends often include wedding content creation as well. Recently, I’ve also been traveling to NYC for fashion week and hosting content days for new clients.

What sets me apart is my ability to wear many hats while staying true to my passion for building community. I’m currently developing a new project called Pilates and Lattes—a fitness and networking experience designed for meaningful connections among like-minded people in Miami who loves working out. Our first event is in February, and I’m so excited to see it come to life.

I specialize in mixing creativity with strategy, whether it’s through content creation, brand campaigns, or community-building events. I’m most proud of how I’ve turned challenges into opportunities, balancing being a creator, an entrepreneur, and a community builder—all while staying grounded in my purpose.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
The quality I believe is most important to my success is my commitment to showing up—no matter what. Whether it’s a bad day, an overwhelming schedule, or a low mood, I always make the effort to show up. I’ve been deeply inspired by Mimi Yoga’s philosophy of consistency and resilience, and it’s something I strive to embody daily.

When I first arrived in Miami, I prioritized building connections and took the time to meet people one-on-one. I reached out to so many amazing women, inviting them for a cafecito in safe, welcoming spaces to truly get to know each other. Being genuine, caring, and real has defined who I am and what I’m known for.

This approach has not only helped me form meaningful friendships but has also built trust with the people and brands I work with. Showing up, being authentic, and creating real connections are at the heart of my success.
