Hi Marialys, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my journey as a young makeup and hair artist, simply following a hobby I loved. I’ve always had a passion for art and creativity and an eye for beauty in the world around me. Even when the spark of passion dimmed at times, I stayed consistent, pushing through the instability and challenges of this industry.
There were moments when I felt uncertain and times when others tried to bring me down, but I never let that stop me. I stayed focused on my path, committed to growing both in my craft and as a person.
What got me to where I am today is the relentless pursuit of my passion and my dedication to personal growth. My journey as a business owner reflects how far I’ve come in my career and in life. I’m proud of the work I’ve done, but even prouder of the person I’ve become along the way.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No journey worth taking is ever smooth. Life’s challenges have a way of sharpening you, forcing you to grow and become better.
There were times when taking risks felt terrifying, and I questioned if I was making the right decisions. Slow months brought financial uncertainty and tested my perseverance. On top of that, there were moments of self-doubt and times when I questioned my abilities as an artist and if I outgrew this passion.
Despite all of that, I learned to trust myself, lean into the discomfort, and use those challenges as fuel to keep going. Every obstacle became an opportunity to grow stronger, more confident, and more resilient. Those tough times were essential in shaping the artist and business owner I am today.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a luxury makeup and hair artist based in South Florida, with 12 years of experience in the beauty industry. I specialize in weddings, maternity photo shoots, and any event that celebrates life’s most cherished moments.
What I’m most known for—and proud of—is offering more than just makeup and hair styling; I provide an experience. I truly enjoy connecting with people and creating a safe, welcoming space. Many of my clients say sitting in my chair feels like therapy, and that’s something I take pride in.
I also understand the importance of community and the need for supporting women. Building strong connections and empowering one another is vital, especially in an industry that thrives on collaboration and creativity. I strive to create a space where women feel seen, heard, and valued—whether it’s through my work as an artist or the conversations we share. Supporting and uplifting each other is how we grow stronger, together.
What sets me apart is my belief that beauty goes beyond appearances. Helping someone feel radiant inside and out is at the heart of everything I do, and it’s what drives me every day.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
One of my favorite childhood memories is the day my mom surprised me with a big birthday party filled with family and friends. Having everyone come together to celebrate me made me feel so loved and cherished—it was truly special.
