Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My wife and I both played college sports, and we started private coaching (on the side) once our careers ended. We loved helping young athletes improve their skills and build confidence, but it quickly became difficult to manage our growing side-hustle. Realizing the need for a platform meant to help coaches effectively scale their business – like Airbnb does for homeowners, or Rover for dog walkers – we used our backgrounds in tech and built AU. Since launching locally in 2022, we’re now active across the US, our app is live on iOS, and we cover most youth sports. As of April 2024, I’m working on the business full-time.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Never is for entrepreneurs! Our biggest hurdle was finding the right technology solution. As a bootstrapped startup, it took a few different opportunities to finally land the right engineering team for budget & efficiency.

We connect athletes and private sports coaches for in-person training. We focus on recruiting high-quality coaches and we use our dynamic tech to make the booking, scheduling, and relationship management process super streamlined.

My wife!! We started this business together and she’s amazing with design, marketing, and brand awareness. In business and life, I couldn’t imagine going at it without her.
Pricing:
- We run an 80/20 split with coaches – so they keep 80% of all bookings, and we use our 20% to host the tech & pay for marketing
- Nationally speaking, the average cost to book 1 session with an Athletes Untapped coach is $65.
