Today we’d like to introduce you to Tricia Kairy
Hi Tricia, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is Tricia Kairy. I am originally from The Philippines. I permanently moved to the United States when I was 16 years old. I lived in Colorado and attended college at CU & CSU where I studies mass communications with an emphasis on advertising.
Before my last semester in college, I went to Las Vegas for the summer. I met my husband and decided to stay. I didn’t work, so I had a lot of time to do anything I wanted. I have a strong passion for creating/being able to express myself creatively. I started to bake and taught myself how to decorate cakes. I made my first instagram account @sosweetbites (“So” an ode to my maiden name). I posted my work there, and I began getting orders from local people. I really enjoyed making the cakes and taking photos and showcasing my work on IG.
Then I stopped after having I got pregnant and had my son. Two years later I had my daughter. My time shifted to caring for my children. I really love being a mom. As our kids got older and started school, that’s when I was ready to start doing something for myself and have a creative outlet again. I always loved fashion and putting outfits together. I decided to start another instagram account @Tricia.Kairy.
In 2021, we moved to Miami because it was always our goal to live here. My husband was born and raised in Miami. After we moved, I really started to take my IG seriously, and consistently creating and posting content, which resulted in more brands reaching out to me for collaborations and paid partnerships. As a micro influencer as they call it, I prefer content creator, I’m proud to have worked with so many amazing brands from clothing to cosmetics and haircare.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been a long road as far as growing a following. Being a small content creator means you’re doing it all yourself, envisioning ideas, creating the content, editing, thinking of captions, posting consistently and at the same time making sure your content is aligning with your own personal brand. Then there’s also building your community. Engaging with your audience. All the while trying to keep up with real every day life as well. There were times that I needed to take a break from creating content bec I was dealing with personal issues. Every content creator knows that taking a break from posting content affects your algorithm. When you return to posting, you have to build the algorithm back up. There were many times I considered just stopping because I felt like it’s a constant battle with the algorithm. But I am truly thankful for my small following who continue to support me, and for a small content creator I have had many great opportunities and they still continue to come my way. I enjoy what I do and will continue to see it through.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a content creator with my main account on Instagram @Tricia.Kairy.
I share outfit ideas, affordable fashion, easy hair and makeup tutorials.
In addition I a also create UGC (user generated content) for brands, where they pay for content only and most cases don’t require me to post on my channel.
My message is to inspire and empower women to feel and look their best, even after having children. To not be scared to try different or new styles and that there’s no age limit when it comes to fashion.
I am proud of building my small community and audience that enjoy my content. I am also proud of being able to work with amazing brands like Target, Skims, Express, Fabletics, designer cosmetics & hair care brands, as well as small business brands. I love that I can express myself through my creative work, inspire others and at the same generate income from it.
I think what sets me apart from others is that I take pride in staying true to myself and being genuine about the products I promote. I post what I like/love and truly believe in, even if it isn’t trending.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
That I am a self taught baker and can decorate cakes like a professional. I don’t really post my kids on my page so some might not know that I’m a mom of 2 in my late 30s.
