Check Out Nicole Shapiro’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Shapiro

Hi Nicole, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Meet Me at the Tee started when I moved to Florida a little over two years ago and didn’t really know anyone in the area, let alone women to play golf with. So I kept going to courses and getting grouped with men or ending up not playing because I didn’t want to go solo. Finally I was frustrated and wanted to create my own community where I could play golf with women (all ages and all levels) and not feel intimidated playing. I started the group back in January 2023 but really didn’t gain followers until about January of 2024. I started off by posting Tee Times that I was interested in playing, to setting up local Women’s Clinic with the Golf Pro I had been using. Eventually word of mouth got out and I currently am sitting at close to 400 women! There is a ZERO membership fee associated with the group and I try to host events once a month or so. We also recently had a Fall Scramble that we had 46 women attend! Overall I am just trying to grow the love of the game with more women to play with and feel like I have created a community where women can play together and not be so intimidated getting out on the course!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Absolutely not! I almost gave up when I was posting events and only 1-2 girls would show up to a place that I had rented out. The biggest struggle is getting the girls to come to events, I feel like being a woman playing golf alone is intimidating, then add trying to coordinate dates and times that work best for a large majority of the group is nearly impossible. So I try and create polls and use the responses I get to finalize events.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
This is a Women of all ages and levels community that people can come together and learn how to play golf or find people that are your level already. I host clinics for those who have never swung a club before and also have scrambles where people can unite as a team! Its an open forum. I encourage the ladies to post their own events, tee times, pros, information that might be helpful for women who are interested in upping their game of golf.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Seeing my months of hard work and dedication to this group come to fruition. It brings me joy to find people who love golf the way that I do!
