Check Out Jameelah Bennett’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jameelah Bennett

Hi Jameelah, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Starting my business, Hyman Consulting, was the culmination of years of working in social work, behavioral health, and talent development in Philadelphia, PA. I began my career serving in underserved communities as a social worker, where I learned firsthand the challenges faced by both clients and the professionals who support them. Through that experience, I gained a deep appreciation for the complexities of human needs, fueling my desire to create systems that better serve individuals.

As I transitioned into talent development and organizational leadership roles, I realized that many of the challenges I encountered boiled down to a need for effective training and organizational support. This pushed me to focus on learning and development, where I found I could have a broader impact by helping organizations better support their employees through innovative training and development programs.

In 2011, I began Hyman Consulting as a part-time venture while continuing my career in the talent development field. However, in 2022, I made the decision to shift my focus entirely to the business, dedicating all my energy into growing the company full-time. My vision was clear: to build a consulting firm that provides impactful, person-centered learning solutions that foster both personal and professional growth. Today, I work with healthcare organizations, educational institutions, and corporations to create customized training programs that emphasize mental wellness, leadership, and workplace well-being. It’s been an exciting and rewarding journey, fueled by my passion for helping individuals and organizations thrive.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The journey has been far from smooth, but each challenge has brought invaluable lessons. Securing and maintaining clients, especially in the early stages, was one of the biggest hurdles. The uncertainty of pitching, waiting for responses, and handling rejections requires persistence, resilience, and a thick skin—especially with financial pressures to maintain stability.

Managing fluctuating revenue has also been a challenge. Booming periods are often followed by slowdowns, making cash flow unpredictable. However, this taught me the importance of strategic financial planning and having contingency measures in place.

Building and managing a team has been both rewarding and complex. It’s fulfilling to work with talented individuals, but managing personalities, keeping motivation high, and addressing performance requires constant attention. Balancing team needs while staying aligned with the company’s vision has been one of the most fulfilling aspects.

Through all these challenges, self-care has been essential. Entrepreneurship can be draining, and I’ve had to remind myself to step back, recharge, and stay motivated. Despite the ups and downs, the opportunity for growth and evolution has been the most rewarding part of the journey.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
What sets us apart is our holistic approach to both staff development and organizational culture transformation. We don’t just design training programs from the outside looking in—we have the experience of doing the work ourselves and can deeply relate to the challenges teams face. This allows us to develop training programs that truly meet their needs. Our dynamic and engaging training programs go beyond technical skills, emphasizing wellness, mental health, and compassionate care to foster a supportive and resilient workforce.

I am especially proud of the long-standing partnerships we’ve built with organizations that trust us to address their unique challenges in an ever-evolving landscape. We don’t just deliver training; we collaborate with organizations to foster growth, develop teams, and improve outcomes for the communities they serve.

What I find most fulfilling is designing impactful, engaging programs where employees build skills to excel professionally and apply those same skills in their personal lives. Whether it’s enhancing communication, building resilience, or practicing empathy, our programs create a dual impact—improving both professional performance and personal well-being. This is a key reason why organizations continue to partner with us.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
I believe the best collaboration begins with a deep understanding of the unique needs and challenges at hand. I prioritize listening and conducting a thorough needs analysis to ensure that any strategy or solution is aligned with the specific goals. I approach every project as a true partnership, appreciating when collaborators are equally invested and open to sharing ideas and insights.

Transparency and open communication are also essential for me. I value feedback and encourage input, as I believe diverse perspectives lead to more innovative and effective outcomes. By starting with a clear understanding of the needs and fostering a collaborative environment, we can leverage our strengths to achieve meaningful results together.

To support my work, there are several ways to get involved.
