Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephany Gil
Hi Stephany, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Stephany, and I’m from Uruguay. I’m a certified Yoga and Mindfulness instructor for children, a Registered Behavior Technician, and a mother to a 6-year-old boy.
My journey in education began in 2022 when I started teaching preschool. During these years, I was deeply moved by the effort children put into identifying and expressing their emotions, which made me realize that my son’s struggles in this area were not unique. Initially, I studied to become a behavioral therapist, but I soon sought deeper ways to support children. This led me to explore respectful, mindful approaches to helping them recognize, process, and manage their emotions.
In today’s fast-paced, technology-driven world, children are often overstimulated. Long school hours and constant digital distractions make it difficult for them to connect with themselves. As a result, my belief in the importance of mindfulness has only deepened. Yoga, with its focus on balance, self-awareness, and breathing, is a powerful tool to help children navigate these challenges.
Imagine a future where yoga is integrated into every school curriculum from an early age. Children would learn these accessible tools for well-being alongside fundamental skills like walking and talking. In this world, we would see a generation grow up with healthy relationships, positive body image, and authentic self-expression. People would carry high self-esteem, confidence, and a deep sense of worthwhile fostering genuine care for themselves, others, and the planet.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It depends on how you look at it. For me, everything unfolded naturally and organically. After getting certified, I began offering my services to schools and mothers. It took about two months to land my first client, and then I started gaining visibility through Instagram reposts from other moms. I currently work with four schools in the mornings and hold private sessions in the afternoons. This month, I’m also launching “Mommy/Daddy & Me” sessions on Saturdays, which will feature sensory activities, arts & crafts, and plenty of fun for the whole family!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Combining my expertise as a yoga and mindfulness instructor with my work as a behavioral therapist and preschool teacher truly reflects my deep passion for nurturing the emotional well-being of children. I’ve seen firsthand how mindfulness and yoga can help kids manage their emotions, build resilience, and develop a deeper sense of self-awareness. These practices not only support children in their emotional growth but also provide them with tools to navigate life’s challenges healthily. I am dedicated to fostering children’s holistic development and supporting their long-term mental health in this new conscious era feel incredibly fulfilled knowing that I’m able to create an environment where children can thrive emotionally, socially, and cognitively.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Believe in yourself and recognize your unique capabilities. Embracing your potential can unlock numerous opportunities. Remember, each step you take towards self-belief brings you closer to your goals. Even if ten doors close, keep knocking on the eleventh. If this is your passion, don’t give up on your pursuit. Just like I did!
