Meet Jennifer Lopez of Florida

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Lopez

Hi Jennifer , thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Ever since I was a little girl I knew I wanted to work in the beauty industry. Corporate America just isn’t for me. A few years after high school I attended cosmetology school and received my license in 2014. I wanted to learn more about makeup so I went on to attend a beauty fashion course at Cosmix Makeup School of Artistry and graduated from there in 2015. In 2017 I had started working at a blow dry bar where I was able to perfect my skills in hair styling & makeup. 5 years later I went on to work for myself & now I travel all over Florida doing what I love!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not! Before I went into just styling, I was working at a full service salon where I eventually got let go from right before I was headed to travel Europe for a few weeks. I had never been let go from a job before & was freaking out! But hey, that’s what led me to the blow dry bar where I went fully into just styling & it all worked out!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in hairstyling & makeup. I do a lot of weddings, special events, photo shoots etc;
I would say I’m most known for my ability to work fast. When I was at the blow dry bar, we were booked back to back so I had to learn how to manage my time while still achieving the best results- I’ve learned a lot of little tips & tricks this way.
I’m most proud of how far I’ve come. At one point I questioned my career and ended up in nursing school. I left because I knew in my heart & gut it wasn’t what I truly felt called to do. I’m so happy I got out of the program! I couldn’t imagine being stuck in a career I truly didn’t love.
What sets me apart from others I think is that my clients become like family to me. I’ve been to their homes, I’ve met their kids, their pets. Some clients I’ve done their hair & makeup for their engagement shoot, wedding, & maternity shoot. To be able to be apart of all those major life moments is so rewarding!

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
If you have a passion – follow it. You always know in your gut what’s right for you. Don’t continue something you don’t love because you’re scared to start over or because of what others may think.
