Rising Stars: Meet Kerlyne Dorceus of Fort Lauderdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kerlyne Dorceus

Hi Kerlyne, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Starting during Covid-19, KK’S Takeout was created. Covid built a new opportunity to build a new source of income, community, and beginnings. Although once first started KK’S Takeout was small. Now slightly bigger we only wish to expand even bigger.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it has not been a smooth road. There have been bumps, potholes, and even speed bumps. However, no matter what obstacles we overcome we face them. The struggle that we faced was the cost of inventory. Having to pay out of pocket for supplies and inventory became hard. It cost us a small break. Yet even with troubles, we bounced back harder.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
KK’S Takeout is a Haitian cuisine restaurant. Providing an authentic Haitian experience with different types of Haitian food. The authenticity and the actual people who make up KK’s Takeout are what sets us apart from others. KK’s Takeout is known for its Pate and Fritay. Even with known basic food like banan (fried plantains) KK’s can put their creative spin on it.

Any big plans?
In the future, we are looking forward to expanding the business. From anything to a food truck to even a pop-up shop to a restaurant. Expanding our business could bring many benefits.
