Hi Brian, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Jessica and I founded GQ Management while immersed in demanding careers—I was a firefighter paramedic, and Jess worked in medical sales with Stryker, a Fortune 500 company. It all began as a test: we listed her home on Airbnb, and it turned into a remarkable success. We added our neighbor’s property, and soon, the vision for something much bigger took hold. We decided to leave our 9-to-5 jobs and build a business that not only managed properties but redefined the vacation rental experience.

Our journey isn’t just a business venture; it’s a love story, too. Jessica and I are not only business partners but life partners. Together, we’re building a life as we grow GQ Management side by side, celebrating wins and tackling challenges together. Our relationship and shared passion are woven into everything we do, making this more than a company—it’s a true business love story.

From the start, we knew we wanted to stand out. With my background in videography, photography, and drone technology, I bring each property to life visually. It’s not just about showing a house; it’s about capturing the experience, drawing guests in before they even arrive. Jess’s interior design expertise transforms every space into a luxurious yet comfortable retreat, creating an atmosphere that feels like a five-star resort. Our combined skills allow us to turn each property into a unique, high-end experience that captivates guests and maximizes returns for our clients.

At GQ Management, we’re not only a hospitality company but a tech-driven business, too. We’ve integrated AI and automation into our operations, streamlining everything from guest communication to booking management. With overseas team members, we maintain high service quality while keeping costs low, allowing us to reinvest in creating unforgettable experiences for guests and boosting profitability for clients. This tech-first approach keeps us agile, scalable, and ready to adapt.

What really sets us apart is our commitment to revolutionizing the industry by managing both HOAs and short-term rentals under one roof. This dual management approach allows us to streamline operations, ensuring everything is handled efficiently and to the highest standard. We’re working to take over some of the largest HOAs in South Florida, offering homeowners and investors the opportunity to generate revenue through short-term rentals. Gone are the days of random Airbnb hosts who may not follow HOA rules. With GQ, everyone wins: guests enjoy top-tier service, homeowners and investors see impressive returns, and HOAs know their community is managed with integrity and attention to detail. We’re the Amazon of real estate, handling everything from A to Z, and we’re more than just property managers—we’re business partners to our clients.

Today, GQ Management oversees 25 luxury properties across South Florida and Costa Rica, and our goal remains clear: to deliver the luxury and service of a five-star hotel in the privacy of a home. Our journey started with a simple listing, but our vision has transformed it into a full-service, industry-leading brand. We’re proud of what we’ve built together and are more motivated than ever to keep pushing boundaries and setting new standards in the industry. This is just the beginning of what we know will be an inspiring, game-changing success story.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Building GQ Management has been anything but a smooth road—it’s been filled with challenges, both expected and unexpected. Early on, we were learning the ropes of vacation rental management while transitioning from our full-time careers. It was a steep learning curve, figuring out the intricacies of property management, guest expectations, and hospitality standards. At times, it felt overwhelming, balancing a rapidly growing business while still mastering new skills.

One of the biggest challenges was scaling without losing the personal touch that defined us from the beginning. As we took on more properties, we had to ensure each guest still felt that five-star experience while streamlining operations to handle the increased workload. That’s when we decided to invest in technology, using AI and automation to take over repetitive tasks, but even that came with a learning curve. Integrating these new systems without compromising quality took time and adjustment.

Working to merge HOA and STR management under one roof presented its own set of obstacles. Many HOAs have strict policies, and integrating short-term rentals while keeping both homeowners and board members happy required careful negotiation and communication. Convincing HOAs of the value of a dual management approach was initially met with skepticism, but through persistence, we’ve shown how our model benefits everyone involved. We’re still navigating this, but each win brings us closer to our vision.

Beyond business, working together as life and business partners also presented its challenges. We’re constantly balancing our personal relationship with the demands of GQ, which can be tricky when tensions rise or decisions get tough. However, we’ve found strength in this partnership, learning to communicate better and to play to each other’s strengths. Building this business together has been incredibly rewarding but also tested us in ways we couldn’t have anticipated.

In the end, these struggles have made us stronger. Every obstacle has driven us to find better solutions, be more innovative, and continuously push the boundaries of what’s possible. The road hasn’t been smooth, but every challenge has brought us closer to our goals and has been instrumental in shaping GQ Management into what it is today.

At GQ Management, we specialize in creating unforgettable, luxury experiences in the vacation rental space, but our approach goes far beyond traditional property management. I bring a background in photography, videography, and drone technology, which has become a cornerstone of our brand and one of the key elements that set us apart. From the start, I knew that capturing the essence of each property was essential—not just through photos, but through a visual story that would immerse potential guests and make them feel the experience before they even book. This isn’t just about marketing a home; it’s about selling an experience, a feeling, and a lifestyle.

Through photography and videography, I focus on highlighting the unique features of each property and the surrounding area, creating captivating visuals that invite guests to envision their ideal vacation. With drone technology, I’m able to capture sweeping, cinematic views of properties that show off their location, proximity to water or cityscapes, and the overall layout in a way that standard photography can’t. Every shot is crafted to spark excitement, capturing both the luxury and the comfort we offer. These visuals are more than just images—they’re our first interaction with guests, and we make sure it’s an unforgettable one.

My marketing approach is equally focused on pushing boundaries and thinking outside the box. We’re not just another property management company listing homes on Airbnb; we’re a full-service hospitality brand that creates memorable experiences for each guest. To get that message across, I develop marketing strategies that leverage every angle of social media, digital advertising, and influencer outreach. Each listing is optimized to reach its target audience, whether that’s families looking for a luxurious escape or couples searching for a private retreat. We go beyond just showcasing our properties—we create a brand narrative that builds trust and attracts high-quality guests.

What I’m most proud of is how GQ Management has transformed into more than a vacation rental company. We’ve become a comprehensive service that integrates HOA and STR management under one roof, making us a true one-stop shop in real estate. By offering everything from guest communication and property maintenance to concierge services like private chefs, yachts, and event planning, we provide a seamless experience for both guests and property owners. Our ability to handle both HOA regulations and Airbnb rentals ensures that properties run smoothly, generating revenue for owners while upholding community standards. It’s something few others are doing, and it allows us to be the solution for property owners, HOAs, and guests alike.

What truly sets us apart is that we’re not just managing properties—we’re partnering with our clients to elevate their investments. What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I’ve learned on this journey is that success in this business—and probably any business—requires a combination of adaptability, resilience, and an unwavering focus on the guest and client experience. In the beginning, we faced a steep learning curve. We made mistakes, learned from them, and continued to improve. But one thing became clear early on: the difference between a good experience and an exceptional one is in the details.

Adaptability has been key for us, especially in an industry that’s always changing, whether through new technologies, shifting regulations, or evolving guest expectations. We’ve had to remain flexible, constantly innovating to meet the high standards we set for ourselves and our clients. The integration of AI, the expansion of our concierge services, and our all-inclusive HOA and STR management approach have all been driven by our willingness to evolve with the market and our clients’ needs.

Another valuable lesson has been the importance of building a strong network and fostering genuine relationships. South Florida is a community full of talented professionals, and by nurturing these connections, we’ve been able to offer exclusive services to our guests, often at the best prices. This has not only elevated the guest experience but also maximized profits for our clients. Our business has grown because we’ve built a reputation based on trust, quality, and consistent delivery, and none of that would be possible without these relationships.

Lastly, and maybe most importantly, I’ve learned that running a business with someone you love brings its own set of unique challenges and rewards. Jessica and I are more than just business partners; we’re life partners, and that has taught me about balancing personal and professional goals, communicating openly, and valuing each other’s strengths. This journey has been both our greatest challenge and our most rewarding experience, and I wouldn’t trade any part of it.

At the end of the day, the lesson I come back to is simple: treat every property, every guest, and every client like they’re the most important part of the business—because they are. That’s what builds loyalty, creates lasting memories, and ultimately drives our success.
