Today we’d like to introduce you to Susan Bigsby
Hi Susan, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I have spent my entire life honing my skills as a professional image consultant, makeup artist, wardrobe and style expert. As a child, I learned to sew and later designed my own fashions. My desire for perfection in workmanship enabled me to win a national design and sewing contest among 16,000 contestants. This experience enabled me to design and manufacture my own line of knitwear which sold internationally.
Styling the way people look has always been fascinating to to me and I began learning everything I could about makeup application, also at an early age.
I later became a makeup artist for international fashion shows with the world’s top models as well as major motion pictures. Because of my combined talents of both fashion and makeup, I became the corporate image consultant to the Estee Lauder executives and traveled nationally doing personal appearances for Neiman Marcus and high-end retailers consulting with countless individuals.
Even though I was a music major in college, I was destined to fulfill my career in teaching others how to achieve their best image. My makeovers have transformed men and women from all walks of life whose common goal is to present themselves in the best possible light. As my career has evolved, I primarily work with top level professionals with complex needs – both in business and in their personal lives.
Now, with a lifetime of experience in the world of fashion, makeup and style, I live in Palm Beach County and continue to be a highly sought after and recognized certified image consultant in Florida. I have appeared countless times on local and national television, am frequently quoted in the national press, magazine publications and the Internet. My clients include several governors and first ladies, judges of the Supreme Court, a former delegate of the UN, television personalities, television affiliates, national and international corporations, various industry professionals and thousands of private individuals.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Due to a consistent need I saw with my clients, I decided to fill this void and designed my own line of high quality silk knitwear which was manufactured overseas. As I am a small business owner/consultant, my activities somehow flagged the IRS and I was audited for 3 years. This was devastating to my company and forced me into bankruptcy. This not only cost me my dream, but my personal life/relationship as well. It took me several years to recover – emotionally and monetarily.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
For the past 35 years, I have helped my clients discover their most authentic style to best achieve their personal and professional goals. My clients include individuals from the private sector as well as professionals from industries including financial, healthcare, hospitality, real estate and many more. Each of them seeks to identify their own best “recipe” for success based on their needs and lifestyle.
I guide clients in selecting and wearing colors that significantly enhance personal self-esteem and confidence. This knowledge is invaluable when choosing attire for specific occasions which can impact others on how one is perceived.
With my extensive and current knowledge of retailers, designers/manufactures, I then plan a carefully selected wardrobe. It is important that one’s wardrobe not only work in style and function, but addresses each unique and individual lifestyle. Mistakes in wardrobe, makeup and hairstyling can be costly and frustrating, which is why a professional consultation is a worthwhile investment. This provides a defined roadmap with the knowledge and the tools to enable one to achieve your very best.
