Life & Work with Bonnie Sorsby of Lake Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bonnie Sorsby

Bonnie, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My story as a creative entrepreneur has evolved through several winding chapters. I first explored jewelry making while living in California and Arizona as a military wife, where my passion for working with my hands seems to have really taken root. Photographing my creations was so fun, I transitioned into portrait photography, a natural evolution that allowed me to capture people’s stories in new ways. My life changed significantly when I became a mother, and the taste of flexibility and freedom that comes with entrepreneurship was magical. After moving back to Florida, with my second in my belly, I found myself adjusting to single motherhood and seeking a new way of working. I launched an online children’s boutique that somehow kept us afloat for that first year but it never felt fully right. It was during this time that a friend introduced me to product photography, leading me to slowly create a thriving photography and design business. Eventually, I remarried and, with my supportive husband, continued to build my business and raise our family. Art entered my life later, almost unexpectedly, after I saved some art supplies I’d photographed for a client. What started as a dream to ‘one day’ explore painting became a reality thanks to the encouragement of a friend and mentor, and since then, my love for art has grown in ways I never imagined.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Throughout my journey, I’ve faced many challenges, from navigating single motherhood to transitioning into different forms of creative work. Shifting from jewelry making to portrait photography and the boutique, to eventually, product photography and digital branding required a constant willingness to learn and adapt. During these years, I also faced health struggles, including once quite debilitating Lyme disease, which made me rethink how I balanced family, work, and self-care. The challenges often felt overwhelming, but they also brought resilience and perspective that now inform both my art and my business. Through it all, I’m grateful for the support of my husband, family, and the wonderful community around me.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a multidisciplinary creator with over 15 years of experience in the creative space. I now focus primarily on product photography, branding, graphic design, and website creation for small businesses. I believe that great visuals are vital to online success, and I truly love helping clients grow and present their unique stories and offerings through cohesive, engaging imagery.
Art is at the heart of my work, embodying freedom and happiness. My artistic journey, inspired by the vibrant flora, fauna, and community in South Florida, celebrates color and the beauty of our natural world. Through intuitive brushstrokes and mindful material choices, I aim to create pieces that foster connection and joy.
I look forward to all the ways these experiences will shape my future as a creative entrepreneur, knowing that each role continues to inform the next, enriching both my art and my design work.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
My journey wouldn’t be possible without the support of my family, friends, and mentors. My husband has been an incredible partner, encouraging me as I pursue new creative avenues and build my business. My friends and mentors have also played key roles, one of whom introduced me to the world of product photography, sparking a major shift in my career. Later, another friend gave me the nudge I needed to pursue painting. Collaborating with clients and other small business owners has been a joy and a continual source of inspiration, reminding me daily of the power of connection and community in the creative world.
