Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsey Capron.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
LoveGraceAndLight Faith Blog started November 30, 2017 (2 days after my birthday). The blog idea came to me one early morning, as I was driving to work and praying. I toyed around with the idea of starting the blog but doubt and fear crept in, as I wondered about the resources and my qualifications of me being able to start one. August 2016, I started the construction of a blog but did not finish thinking that no one would really want to read my content whether I had awesome things to say or not. Life happened as I placed my burning desire to start the blog on hold. I found myself newly married fall 2017 and relocating to Fort Lauderdale, FL immediately following my wedding after residing in Southern California my entire life.
I told my husband about the blog saying that, I still have this burning desire to create one and I couldn’t sleep until it was started. With much prayer, God reassured me that it didn’t matter what financial resources or writing qualifications I had, JUST START WRITING about Him. Around 10:30pm of November 30, 2017, I made the solid decision to start my blog and stick with it. I started writing and growing my social media presence as I gave biblical hope, encouragement, my life experiences with the wisdom God’s teaching to a generation who I felt needed it more than ever. Slowly but surely, my online presence started to catch on as I posted on Instagram and continue with my blog content on my site.
While this blog is starting ground floor, I can say that I’ve exponentially grown my skills as a writer while speaking truth of God’s word with love and my quirky personality. I’ve grown my audience while discovering that people are truly interested in what I have to say. Most importantly, I’ve grown my faith in Jesus Christ. I know that I couldn’t have done all this with out Him. Now, I’m learning to take calculated risks and chances as I’m becoming more vulnerable but also bolder in my approach in speaking God’s Word. I know that this is only the beginning for LoveGraceAndLight and the sky is the limit for wherever God leads me with my blog,
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road. Almost daily, I wrestle with thoughts of doubt, fear and sometimes (which is a big one for me) comparison because I often wonder before I start a new blog article if this will be good enough. Sometimes just getting started or even searching for the words to begin the first sentence is difficult. No matter how much I outline my content and get scriptures ready, sometimes my mind just simply freezes. Writer’s block can be mentally painful for me, so more and more I’m discovering different methods to manage it. Also, some family and friends don’t really quite understand blogging and will often times interject their negative opinions and statements even if they say it in the nicest way with intent of meaning well. Also, you get negative opinions from strangers you don’t even know because the topics spoken are deemed “too controversial” to their taste. You can’t please everyone, right?
We’d love to hear more about your business.
LoveGraceAndLight shares soul and thought provoking articles with practical ways to live a life with a moral and spiritual compass which seems to be broken or non-existent in today’s society. I do have a heart for marriage/relationships. I’ve noticed in previous articles in my blog that discuss my biblical views and standpoints about marriage and relationships seem to capture audiences’ attention most. My blog posts are known for its conversational style reading along with colorful, bright and bible based Instagram posts on social media. I’m most proud of the fact that at least one person who reads my content not only compliments and shares my post but they make strides to live a better life in Christ.
While everyone’s writing style is different as a blogger, I believe what sets me apart from the others is my willingness to share my personal experiences on a deeper level by connecting at least one of the 2 human senses and emotions behind my writing. Though it’s a work in process, I’m learning to be more vulnerable in a world that seems to desire being closed off to the rest of the world with thoughts, feelings and ideas. I share with people my struggles and show them, I’m no different from who they are even as a Christian.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I’ve always had a big, quirky, comical personality. I talked a lot, too. I consider myself to be an extrovert 80% of the time. My parents even some of my teachers couldn’t get me to be quiet. I was also the sarcastic, out-spoken class clown that was quick with a witty one-liner. I told it like it was or as a really close friend would say, “With Lindsey, you don’t need an interpreter.” I had a huge imagination and always wanted it to come to life somehow. I really didn’t blossom and come out of my shell personally until my early to mid twenties. My parents would also know me as the first-born independent child.
As a little girl, I loved all things girlie: make-up, Barbie, dressing up as a fairy princess however, I did enjoy reading and playing video games. I loved visual arts even though I couldn’t draw to save my life or anyone else’s and I loved classical ballet. I was in it for seven years. Writing has always been my heart. It was my purest and true form of a safe outlet for me. I have countless journals recording my life from middle school to well after high school. I still keep a journal now.
