Rising Stars: Meet Glaucia Da Silva of Miami

Today we’d like to introduce you to Glaucia Da Silva

Hi Glaucia, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Interview

Hello, my name is Glaucia and I am passionate about food and travel. I am Venezuelan with Brazilian and Italian roots. After working for 10 years in the restaurant industry and having lived and traveled to different countries, it was inevitable for me to develop a great passion for the world of gastronomy. I feel there is no better way to get to know a country than by experiencing its food and customs. That’s why I decided to dedicate myself to sharing my experiences on social media.

I currently live in Miami, and I feel very grateful to be in a city where so many cultures come together and allow you to enjoy a little bit of many countries.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Oh wowww hahaha. I think I could sell my story to Netflix. I feel it has been, and continues to be, a journey full of lessons. I’ve had to emigrate three different times. Starting from scratch is not easy, especially when you do it alone and not only have to learn a new language but also adapt to a new culture. But without a doubt, I feel very grateful for each experience and the people I’ve met along the way. And, well, I feel like this new phase as a travel and food blogger is just getting started.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
After working for so long in hospitality, I wanted to share this passion through social media by creating a food and travel blog.

I feel that what sets me apart from others is that I won’t recommend a place or restaurant just because it’s good or trendy; I believe it goes beyond that. I will recommend places that want to tell a story or connect with people.

That’s what I’ve been doing all this time working in restaurants—I try to connect with the customer, to create a memory and tell a story.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Without a doubt, my honesty. People who know me understand that I can be super honest about the things I like, and also about the things I don’t like.
