Rising Stars: Meet Mary Boada of Central Florida

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mary Boada

Hi Mary, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey began in Venezuela, where I worked as an industrial engineer for the country’s electric company. I was proud of my career, but as the political, social, and economic conditions in my country worsened, I made the decision to emigrate to the United States with my two young daughters. We settled in Miami eight years ago, where I had to face the reality of starting over. Like most immigrants, I took on jobs I never imagined doing: cleaning, painting, remodeling, and more. Even though these jobs were tough, they taught me valuable lessons about hard work and determination. Still, deep down, I knew I wanted something more—something I was truly passionate about.

I often worked in homes that were being prepared for sale or rent, and every time I saw realtors conducting business so professionally, I couldn’t help but think, “I want to be there.” I knew that real estate was the path I wanted to follow, though I also knew it wouldn’t be easy. So, I began saving with a clear goal: to get my real estate license. Finally, in 2019, after much hard work, I achieved that goal. But the challenges were only beginning. At first, no one knew me, I had no referrals, and the clients I attracted were the ones other agents didn’t want. But instead of feeling discouraged, I saw every client as an opportunity to learn and grow.

The year 2020 brought the pandemic, an incredibly challenging time. The economy and many lives were deeply affected, and sadly, I lost close friends, which reminded me of how fragile life can be. Despite these difficulties, I remained focused on establishing myself in real estate.

In 2021, just when things seemed to be improving, I received a devastating diagnosis: breast cancer. It was a hard blow. I went through surgeries, chemotherapy, and radiation, which were physically and emotionally exhausting. However, I refused to stop. Despite the treatments, I continued attending my classes via Zoom from the hospital. Even though the treatments weakened me, my passion for learning and my desire to succeed remained strong. That period taught me the true meaning of resilience and the importance of not giving up in the face of adversity.

After overcoming the illness, I became even more determined in my career. Little by little, I started attracting more clients, each with unique needs. With every transaction, I continued learning, perfecting my skills, and gaining confidence. Today, I have the privilege of helping families find their homes in Orlando, something that fills me with pride and satisfaction.

My story is a testament that, with hard work, perseverance, and resilience, it is possible to overcome any obstacle and achieve your dreams, no matter how difficult the circumstances.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Starting over in a new country with two young daughters was one of the toughest challenges I’ve faced. When I first arrived in the U.S., I had to accept jobs like cleaning, painting, and remodeling—jobs that I never imagined doing as an industrial engineer. But I needed to provide for my family, so I pushed through those early days with determination.

The hardest part wasn’t just the work itself, but the feeling of starting from scratch. I had to rebuild my life, my career, and my identity. And then, when I finally found my passion for real estate and got my license, I realized the real battle was just beginning.
So no, it hasn’t been a smooth road. But every struggle has shaped me into the person I am today and has strengthened my commitment to my career.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a realtor based in Florida, and I specialize in both residential and commercial real estate, with a strong focus on helping families find their perfect homes in the Orlando area. What I’m known for is my commitment to my clients—I always go above and beyond to ensure that they feel supported and informed throughout the entire buying or selling process. Whether it’s first-time homebuyers, investors, or families relocating, I’m there to guide them every step of the way.

One of the things I’m most proud of is my journey to get where I am today. From starting over in a new country to overcoming personal challenges like my battle with breast cancer, I’ve never lost sight of my goal to build a successful real estate career. I’m especially proud of the trust that my clients place in me. Knowing that I’ve helped families find a place to call home is incredibly rewarding.

What sets me apart from others is my resilience and my ability to connect with people on a deeper level. Having gone through struggles myself, I understand what it means to navigate difficult situations, and I use that empathy in my work. I also bring a unique perspective as someone who started from the ground up, which allows me to relate to clients who are also starting fresh or facing obstacles.

I’m detail-oriented, a strong negotiator, and always looking for creative solutions to help my clients achieve their real estate goals. But more than anything, I care deeply about the people I work with, and I think that’s what truly sets me apart.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?

Growing up, I was always very curious and driven. I loved to learn and was always eager to explore new things, especially when it came to solving problems or understanding how things worked. Whether it was schoolwork, helping around the house, or extracurricular activities, I gave it my all. I’ve always been someone who is highly organized and responsible, traits that have carried over into my career.

In terms of interests, I was drawn to anything that challenged me intellectually. I loved math and science, which is what eventually led me to pursue a career in engineering. But beyond academics, I also had a deep sense of empathy and always enjoyed helping others. That’s something I’ve carried with me throughout my life, especially now in my real estate career, where I find so much joy in helping families find a home.

Personality-wise, I was always determined and resilient. I didn’t shy away from challenges, and even when things got tough, I kept pushing forward. I learned from a young age the importance of hard work and perseverance. Those values shaped who I am today, both personally and professionally.
