Today we’d like to introduce you to Robin King
Hi Robin, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
In 2023, I had my daughter, Paige. From the time I brought her home from the hospital I’ve been reading books to her. Classic children’s book like “Goodnight moon” and “Brown bear, Brown bear, what do you see?”
My daughter face would light up with excitement as I would read to her. One day while she was sleeping, I decided to start writing a book, specifically for her. I wanted her to have a book dedicated to her that will always bring her joy. As I continued writing, I realized that this book can reach an audience of children who enjoys reading and books as much as my daughter do. I did research, hired an illustrator and editor to help me bring my vision to life and that is how my children’s book “Paige and her pup” came about.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I thought writing a children’s book would be easy but it definitely had some struggles along the way. Before doing research, I imagined it to be quick and easy. It took me months of research and trying to find a team that matched my vision and expectations. After putting out my book, the biggest struggle I learned was actually Marketing. In fact, writing the book, editing, illustrating and publishing was the easy part, As I’m working on two more children’s book at the moment, I’m doing things very differently and at a slower pace to ensure less hiccups.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a author, specifically a children’s book author. I published my first children’s book, “Paige and her pup” March of this year. I’m proud of myself for taking this leap of faith to create a book that I think other children and their families would like. I have also created an activity book, “Letter and number tracing with Paige and her pup”, that will help toddlers start identifying their letters and numbers and learning pencil control and tracing. I think what sets me apart from other’s is that this isn’t about money for me. Children are our future and when I create or write anything that will land in a child’s lap, I do it with the intention that it will positively shape and mold them. I’m very intentional with my words, illustrations and my stories.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I think being fearless is a characteristic that is most important to my success. Sometimes we get caught up in the “what if’s” and miss out on good opportunities or chances. I don’t think about “what if this doesn’t work out” or “what if nobody buys my book”, I just do whatever my heart sets out to do. When you take your focus off your fears, you can see your future path much clearer.
