Today we’d like to introduce you to Lavinia Colasanto
Hi Lavinia, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I worked in Italy as a TV and radio sports journalist before moving to the United States, where I became a reporter and continued to work in the field of communication alongside the Italian Consulate and the Italian Cultural Institute in Miami. Later, an adventure in marketing led me into yacht sales, where I now represent several brands in the yachting industry, including handling sales.
My work spans from creating content for companies—overseeing video production in studios with technicians, cameramen, photographers, and drone operators—to being in front of the camera for interviews or closing million-dollar deals on yachts. Being from Rome, Italy, I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with numerous Italian companies, which is a great source of pride for me.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
As a single mom, nothing about this journey could be called a smooth road. Moving to a new country meant learning a language from scratch, adapting to a different society, and navigating a work environment with new dynamics, all while engaging with a diverse clientele. Interestingly, compared to my experience in Italy, I’ve received far more appreciation for my expertise here. In Italy, in fields like mine, physical appearance can sometimes act as a barrier to being recognized for one’s professionalism and competence. Dedication, organization, and a determined character have been my tools for success.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in creating content for companies, ranging from video production—working with studios, technicians, cameramen, photographers, and drone operators—to being in front of the camera for interviews. Additionally, I handle high-profile yacht sales, closing million-dollar deals. My background as a TV and radio sports journalist in Italy, combined with my transition into the yachting industry in the United States, gives me a unique perspective.
I’m most proud of my collaborations with many Italian companies, something that holds special meaning for me as someone from Rome. What sets me apart is my ability to blend creativity with business expertise, adapting to different industries while maintaining a high level of professionalism.
you can find me if you type: italia report usa Lavinia Colasanto or as a owner of the marketing agency called Barnia Media and as a broker partner with moretti yachts 🙂
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
My advice for those just starting out is to be patient and resilient. Success doesn’t come overnight, and the journey will have its ups and downs. Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone—whether it’s learning a new skill, moving to a new country, or shifting into a different industry. The ability to adapt is key.
I wish I had known earlier that appreciation for your work doesn’t always come right away, and sometimes it comes from unexpected places. Also, never let external factors, like appearance or others’ opinions, define your worth or limit your potential. Stay dedicated, stay organized, and trust in your determination—it will open doors you never imagined.
