Today we’d like to introduce you to Vivian Olodun
Hi Vivian, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Flourish Media started out of an organic request from 78 women who desired to know how to use online tools better and stand out online.
In 2015 we raised funds to invest in women owned businesses and hosted the first Flourish Media Conference in 2016 at Florida International University. When the women attending looked around the room taking in the quality of the woman in attendance they asked my business partner Dr. Tracy Timberlake and I to create services to better serve them.
That’s when Flourish Media, marketing training and development company started! It blows my mind to know Flourish Media is now a marketing franchise ready to operate in 26 states with training on how to replicate this business model.
I don’t come from a family of entrepreneurs. Everyone I knew growing up worked for someone and desired to retire with a pension. My parents are from Panama and Nigeria. As immigrants in the United States they sought out stability as soldiers in the United States military.
I knew military life was not for me but I did want to fill my civic duty so I studied political science and public relations at Barry University in Miami Shores, Florida.
When we created Flourish Media Franchising we did so with a supportive perspective focused on addressing my own personal frustration with work. Trading time for money.
Free time is my greatest value. When I left corporate America to create my first consulting company, I built it around the desire to travel. Because of this all of the technology is designed to access from my phone.
That kind of freedom is available to Flourish Media Franchisees! I’m excited to watch that project impact many people.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Every entrepreneur has his or her challenges and I believe it’s the desire to solve problems that drive us to pursue entrepreneurship!
My challenges started with community and mindset. As I mentioned, I don’t come from a community of entrepreneurs. Somehow taking 6-figures worth of college loans feels less risky than opening a business.
These days my challenges are around balancing my role as a wife and mother with running my businesses. I’ve been married to the love of my life since 2019. We have two girls under 4 years old and it’s been a whirlwind adjusting to parenthood.
At the moment I operate six brands. I am an author and professional speaker. My book Stumbling Through Adulthood is available on Amazon. I am the CEO, of Flourish Media and Flourish Media Franchising. I am the Managing Director of Behind The Leaf, our nonprofit that host the Flourish Media Conference. I am growing our real estate portfolio with my husband. I’m also a shareholder of a breast cancer screening device called Pink Luminous Breast by Marylin Dans. It’s going to revolutionize medical care!
Listing them here, it’s no wonder I’m so busy, lol but I swear it’s more fun than anything!

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
I grew up all around the world traveling with my parents as a military kid. All my favorite childhood memories are with my family together, laughing and joking together. No matter where we were in the world, I always felt at home with them.
Looking back, I’m very grateful for my childhood. It was full of love and exposure to the most wholesome moments.
