Today we’d like to introduce you to Kendall Ruiz Jiménez.
Hi Kendall, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is Kendall Ruiz Jiménez, a lawyer who dreams big, our office Aselecom Abogados was born from an idea of my parents Gustavo Ruiz and Mary Jiménez, the law firm has been founded for 28 years and at some point the office was in a room the house and I saw it when I was still a child.
As time went by, since I was 13 years old, during school holidays I supported my mother with some legal procedures in different government procedures and there I learned some legal procedures.
At the age of 16 I began my career in law and successfully completed university. The journey has been impressive, since I have never stopped studying and I have tried to generate a social and academic contribution.
Over time, we have worked to grow the Aselecom Abogados team, being able to have operations in its headquarters in Costa Rica, but also reaching South America and the United States, specifically in Florida and California.
I have written 11 legal literary works on various subjects, which is a pleasure and makes me feel very happy.
I am currently part of the New York bar, also of the Inter Amercan Bar Association, ASSOCIATION OF EUROPEAN ATTORNEYS, International Bar Association, AIPDCR (International Association of Law Professionals in Costa Rica), Ibero-American Association of Private Law.
I have been awarded for the legal works I have written, as well as for the communication impact as an opinion manager and other awards for professional work.
I love what I do and I love being able to be an agent of change in society.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, it has not been easy, it has been an exercise in patience and a lot of perseverance, one thinks that the path is in a straight line but there are ups and downs that make us reflect and change the strategy.
Without the support of the family it is not possible to move forward, there is a saying that says “sooner or later discipline will defeat intelligence” and I do think that you have to study to apply intelligence but you have to be very disciplined and perseverant, especially when it is a business of a startup and in the legal field in which the competition is very tough and in light of this I have tried to be disruptive and make a difference. The support of Alejandra Peña, my wife, It has been key to being able to advance the projects, and without a doubt the contribution of each of the people who make up the team and support every day helps to achieve the objectives set to be better every day.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a lawyer and notary, I specialize in corporate law, I am also a university professor and I love teaching, I also studied audiovisual design, production and post-production and this helps me try to apply creative elements to law.
I am known for the work I do to inform the population and the academic contribution, for trying to do things differently from the conventional, not something as linear and “serious” as the lawyer is known but rather so that the law can be understood to the entire population translate the language of lawyers to the general population.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
It is a very interesting question, I see Aselecom Abogados generating an impact at an international level, implementing the team’s knowledge outside the borders, given that our work involves topics such as Artificial Intelligence, information and communication technologies, contracts and all the elements of new trends and we are up to date with this, so I dream of seeing ourselves growing and providing that advice to all companies or people that require our service.
