Today we’d like to introduce you to Tara Leggero
Tara, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started my career right after high school, attending aesthetic school in Chicago 21 years ago. Growing up with persistent acne, I struggled to find effective treatments. Dermatologists offered limited solutions, and I often felt dismissed, with no real guidance on how to care for my skin. This frustration fueled my desire to learn everything I could about skin and how it works. Over the years, that passion has only grown. I love helping people transform their skin and empowering them to take control of their skincare, which is incredibly rewarding.
I built a successful career in Chicago, but after a while, I felt a pull for a new challenge. I started spending more time in Miami, and just recently joined SkinLocal as their Lead Aesthetician for their brand new Midtown location. It’s been an exciting new chapter, and I’m truly honored to be part of such a talented team.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It wasn’t a smooth road, especially when I decided I wanted to relocate to Miami. I had a strong client base in Chicago but no connections here, which felt daunting. Despite my confidence in rebuilding my clientele based on my experience and passion, the sheer number of aesthetic practices in Miami made it challenging. I explored other opportunities, but something always felt off until I met the SkinLocal team. Once we connected, everything just clicked, and the path forward became much clearer and easier.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a medical aesthetician specializing in skin transformations, particularly for conditions like acne, acne scars, melasma, rosacea, and pigmentation. I offer a variety of treatments such as chemical peels, microneedling, lasers, and customized facials, but my approach is multidimensional. I believe in also addressing the root causes of skin issues—whether it’s hormones, diet, lifestyle, genetics, or product use. While treatments and products are important, real change happens when all these factors are considered and applied strategically. I love helping my clients understand the unique needs of their skin and guiding them to the freedom that comes with effective skincare.
I’m proud of the impact I’ve made and the people I’ve helped along the way, but I’m especially proud of the leap of faith I took in resetting my career and moving to Miami. It’s been a huge personal and professional growth experience for me.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I do feel incredibly lucky, but I also believe that much of that “luck” comes from the work I was willing to put in. I have taken every opportunity to learn and grow within my career, which ultimately led me to more opportunities. I trusted the process, had faith that I was on the right path, and took action when opportunities arose. I listened to my intuition and looked for signs, and if that’s what luck is, then I’d say it played a huge role in my journey.
