Community Highlights: Meet Eve Joss of Rooms by Eve

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eve Joss

Eve, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Rooms by Eve is a full service interior design company based in Boca Raton, FL and services both Miami and Palm Beach areas. I earned my qualification in interior design in South Africa at the DVR academy of design. In 2008, I immigrated with my family to the United States and settled in Florida. (I am married and we have 3 daughters).
I’m also a qualified psychologist ( M. S) and love combining my passion for people with my passion for design.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Initially, immigration from SA to the USA is undoubtedly challenging. We relocated to Florida due to the high level of crime in SA, leaving friends and family behind and having to adapt to a different culture. It took some time to settle down before I was able to resume my career . At that point I founded ‘ Rooms by Eve ‘.
The field of interior design never stops growing and changing. I’m constantly learning and updating my knowledge to keep up with new trends and innovations.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Rooms by Eve is an interior design company which offers an international contemporary flare.
With every project I’m mindful of maximizing space, providing aesthetic as well as useful functionality.
It’s important to ensure that every room and space within the home is optimized both for visual appeal and usability.
Using technology such as 3D rendering to provide design and mood boards helps our clients to be able to visualize the end results.
Rooms by Eve’s motto has always been is to make even the most difficult projects come together ‘ on time and on budget ‘. While we accommodate all clients’ styles my general look is minimalist, elegant, sophisticated and uncluttered.
‘Rooms by Eve ‘ is known for its contemporary designs which is defined by a warm and homey pallette, subtle sophistications, high quality and luxurious living .

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
On the topic of risk taking I typically will not challenge budgets or timelines as contractually agreed upon … however other areas are worth taking risk over .
For instance ; narrowing our market to a niche of contemporary design , might alienate a broader client base. The thing is that it actually helps us stand out to the right client since we are being known as the go-to firm for any modern contemporary design client .
I feel that we take risks with our designs on a daily basis and not always ‘play it safe ‘ . we like to mix a vintage item with modern, make use of unusual color combinations, throwing in an unexpected pop of color can turn a room from “ just nice “ to “ wow” .
Ultimately, the essence of interior design thrives on creativity and a little daring .
