Hidden Gems: Meet Melvin Rodriguez’ Echevarria of Keller Williams Fort Lauderdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Melvin Rodriguez’ Echevarria

Hi Melvin, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Thirty years ago, I moved to Miami from Puerto Rico to pursue a master’s degree in Chemistry and to become a Chemistry instructor for undergraduate students at the University of Miami. Surrounded by the smells of chemicals and the clinking of glassware, I passionately explained the complexity of chemical reactions to eager minds. The chemical lab was my stage for four years where I really enjoyed translating the mysteries of molecules into tangible concepts. As fulfilling as a career in education is, it is also unfortunately one of the least lucrative careers. To make ends meet, life took me to another passion of mine: luxury retail This change offered me a new challenge and the opportunity to grow in an entirely different arena. My career in retail began at Neiman Marcus as the selling specialist for Versace Cosmetics. When Versace cosmetics went out of business it was a no brainer to transition into fine apparel. By that time, I have embraced the Neiman Marcus way of doing business and their superior customer service. It was very easy to accept the invitation to open their new store in Boca Raton as the selling specialist for Valentino. Boca Raton allowed me to grow in the retail industry to become an assistant manager and then lead my own department as their manager. It was a great opportunity to shape, mentor, and uplift the lives of my team. It was so fulfilling to create an environment where the team is inspired and motivated to make customers’ dreams a reality. As part of my growth as a manager, I knew that becoming a store manager was my next step. I was very excited and honored to manage businesses for designers of the caliber of Brunello Cuccinelli, Jimmy Choo, and Carolina Herrera.

After 30 years of living in South Florida, I really experienced what a fantastic place to live is. Between the warm weather, amazing beaches, diverse and vibrant culture, outdoor lifestyle year around, and thriving Art and Entertainment scene, I could not ask for a better place to live. And this is what took me to my most recent endeavor: Real Estate. I myself have been a Real Estate client many times as a seller, buyer, investor, and landlord. I also know firsthand how stressful, and despairing can any real estate process be if the dedication, consistency, follow-up, and energy needed are not put in to achieve the goals desired. For the last year, I have been making the dreams of living in South Florida a reality as a realtor for the biggest brokerage firm in the country, Keller Williams. It is now my opportunity to share all my knowledge and passion with those who want to enjoy this Paradise as I did 30 years ago.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Facing challenges is an inevitable part of life and like everyone else I have encountered at every step of my life. It is how you confront them what defines our strength and character. I am a strong believer in tackling every challenge head on. I remind myself every day that every challenge is an opportunity to learn and to grow proving to myself that I can overcome any obstacle if I put all my heart and effort into it.

We’ve been impressed with Keller Williams Fort Lauderdale, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Besides that my office is conveniently located on the corner of Commercial Blvd and US1, Keller Williams Fort Lauderdale is part of the largest brokerage in the United States. Being the largest brokerage firm comes with many perks. Among others, access to amazing technology and processes that opens the door to maximum exposure to information making the process of buying or selling much easier. Also, the training and support of all the coaches are far superior to any other brokerage in the industry.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
I would like to add that it will be a pleasure to be that voice of advice that leads the process of living in beautiful South Florida. During the three decades I have lived here, I have found many people who have helped me and have shown me the ropes of living in South Florida. And now it is my turn to pay it forward!
