Exploring Life & Business with Gloria Elena Rodriguez of Healthy ‘n’ Glo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gloria Elena Rodriguez

Hi Gloria Elena, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey with holistic health began earlier than I can recall. As a toddler, growing up in Puerto Rico, my parents would give me home-grown wheatgrass shots; in other words, they are two very health-conscious individuals. We rarely ever had any “sugary” or processed foods, and always prioritized single-ingredient meals at home while still maintaining a nonrestrictive lifestyle.
I thank them immensely for that; and, as my mom always says “the one and only thing you come into and leave this earth with, is your health.”

Throughout college, I began my journey as a fitness trainer, wanting to help others become a healthier version of themselves– coaching CrossFit and Bootcamp group classes, as well as having in person and online personal training clients. But, unfortunately, I prioritized a lot of the fitness-marketed food labels (there’s a big misconception often times being extremely acidic and unhealthy), creating a lot of gut imbalances within and resulting in IBS. Plus, the typical college habits involving tons of energy drinks, cheap microwavable foods, and alcohol did not help. So, this is when I actually took it upon myself to learn how to heal my body from within. That’s where my personal journey with holistic healing and wellness began.

I studied Therapeutic Recreation and practiced as a Certified Therapeutic Recreational Therapist in an array of different settings for 7 years. This field and area of study prioritizes the integration of 7-10 different dimensions of wellness in order to optimize an individual’s health. These include and are not limited to emotional, financial/vocational, physical, spiritual, and environmental. In other words, if there is an area (or dimension) that is stronger or weaker than another, it will impact the outcome of goals in other dimensions along the wheel. Much like a circle, it’s all connected.

Understanding the importance of an integrated lifestyle, and having developed a passion for holistic wellness, I chose to leave the corporate world with the help of my husband and pursue Healthy n’ Glo. Our society has normalized pain, inflammation, sluggishness, poor sleep, addictions, and so many other ailments. Therefore, I want to help others feel good. That is my simple purpose. I want others to (GLO)w, and I can achieve that through nutrition coaching, fitness programing, stress management, emotional regulation, and revisions of lifestyle habits. My approach is complete, simple, and sustainable.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Hah. Definitely not. Leaving the comfort and security of a well-paying job, along with the benefits included (health insurance, retirement accounts, etc), was very risky and scary. But through a lot of prayer, I have relied on my faith and never looked back. As a matter of fact, I feel an immense amount of peace that I was created for this! From the clients I work with, the freedom of having your own business, and the journey of trial and errors, I love what I do.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Healthy ‘n’ Glo is an online wellness coaching business, formally founded in Q1 of 2024. We are a team of 2, husband and wife duo, passionate about the healing process achieved through fitness, nutrition, and wellness habits.

Therefore, we take the confusion out of being a “glo-wing”, healthy individual. Focusing on the research and personalization of services, no two approaches are alike.

Depending on what our clients needs are, we either provide: biweekly meal plans along with their recipes, macro coaching, fitness programming, mindset and habit development, supplement & wellness guides amongst so much more.
