Hi Zais, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Cortez Event Agency started in Maracaibo, Venezuela, when clients at my husband Carlos’ restaurant showed interest in hosting small events like birthdays and baptisms.I took charge of that area, driven by my passion for the industry and over time, demand grew, and people began hiring my services outside of the restaurant, marking the beginning of this incredible journey. When we moved to the United States, several of my clients from Venezuela were also in Miami, started hiring me again. The level of demand here is much higher, so I decided to get certified in everything from planning to design, allowing me to offer a full 360 service with the highest quality standards. With over 10 years of experience, I’ve been able to develop and refine all my skills, which enables me to create unique and memorable events.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The biggest challenge in running a business where the high season for events is so clearly defined in the market is maintaining a stable and motivated team. During peak periods, the workload can be overwhelming, and in contrast, the off-season can lead to reduced hours or downtime. Striking a balance between keeping the team engaged, ensuring consistent performance

CORTEZ EVENT AGENCY was founded in 2010 in Maracaibo, Venezuela by Zais Cortez, and established in Miami, FL since 2017.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
I grew up in Ciudad Ojeda, Venezuela, where my parents owned a hardware store. From a young age, I was fascinated by how to run and develop a business. I would help my parents with administrative tasks and even looked for ways to make my own money, like selling snacks to the workers in the afternoons. This environment shaped my entrepreneurial mindset and became the foundation for me to always see myself as someone capable of creating and leading a major project.
