Check Out Pilly Mae’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Pilly Mae

Hi Pilly, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hi, I’m Pilly Mae. I started doing music as a child. After moving from my hometown in Cleveland I relocated to Miami where I became very serious about my music career. It started with covers and freestyle tracks over instrumentals and I very quickly grew notary from my lyrical content and edgy music videos. I’ve done numerous records and shows since then and I now have the creative freedom I didn’t necessarily have. I finally feel I’m on the right path…this time lol so stay tuned! The best has yet to come!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
This journey was no where near easy….Absolutely not. It’s kinda like climbing a mountain and getting so close to the top and then just completely falling back to the ground. Although I’d say I’ve been extremely blessed to have worked with some incredible artists, producers etc, I’ve never really had control over anything I was doing. I always had someone somewhat directing what I was doing, and if it didn’t work out I had to start completely over. You really have to understand the music business in order to avoid wasting time and money. My experience has been my greatest teacher and I’m grateful for it all. I learned and I’m always learning.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Aside from being the most amazing, incredible recording artist…I bartend on the weekends. I find a good balance between working at the bar and still dedicating time to my craft. I have no shame because bartending allows me to fully sponsor my career and I’m completely in control. I guess I’m proud of the fact I’m still able to create and that fire, the passion just burns in me. I believe music is something I’ll always do even when I’m much older. My passion, my drive truly separates me because I will never give up. You grow with your music. Most give up and do other things but this is my calling.

What were you like growing up?
It’s funny because growing up I was tomboy asf lol. A lot of people have this misconception that I was this goody tushoo but I played in the mud…with the boys. I was the only girl in my age group growing up so if I wanted to fit in I had to be good at sports and be fearless. I loved playing basketball that was really my thing. But I also just enjoyed entertaining…as I was also on the dance/cheer teams and performed at local talent shows. Making people happy and feel good was always my thing. Still is…
