Today we’d like to introduce you to Iris Rodgers
Hi Iris, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started digital storytelling on Instagram which grew into sharing my adventures in South Florida across other platforms and eventually building my own blogging website TheFortLauderdaleBlogger.com recently. If I am being honest, it all happened accidentally. I wanted a way to keep track of my journey in the sunshine state. I never realized there would be others interested in joining me along the way.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
While my path to becoming a blogger in South Florida has been relatively smooth, learning to navigate the local lifestyle has proven to be quite the challenge. When I first relocated here, I struggled to establish roots. With so many people coming and going for various reasons, it was hard to establish long-term connections. However, once I found my rhythm, I began to truly enjoy my life here, largely thanks to the relationships I made with others who do something similar to what I do.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m often referred to as the Fort Lauderdale Blogger, but my life encompasses many roles. I’m a wife, a full-time mom, and a business owner of Reset Athletics. I feel fortunate to have created a career centered around my passions. While not everyone has the opportunity to nurture their passion projects, I have the privilege of sharing my love for fitness and food each day. I recently completed my doctorate, focusing on the success of Black women in culturally safe spaces. Ultimately, I aim to use my platform to highlight the cultural safe spaces I’ve discovered, so others won’t have to face the same challenges I did.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I have been fortunate to have many people supporting my journey. My husband, Tony Rodgers of Rodgers Reset, recognized the potential for me to transform my brand into a profession even before I did. He is my biggest cheerleader, always encouraging me from behind the scenes, and I believe everyone should have someone like that! Additionally, the invaluable support from my Sister Circle, especially my advisor Traci Baxley, has been crucial in helping me move forward. Sharing your life with the world can make you feel exposed and vulnerable, but I am truly grateful to have companions on this journey rather than having to navigate it alone.
