Today we’d like to introduce you to Dashay Johnson
Hi Dashay, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My name is Shay, and my journey in social media began in 2011 with a YouTube channel focused on fashion and style. Over the years, my life has evolved in profound ways. In 2013, I experienced the loss of my first child due to an incompetent cervix, which was a diagnosis I had been unaware of until then. I began sharing my story on YouTube to offer support and serve as a testimony for women who might be facing similar challenges.
As time went on, I shifted my content to include motivational and encouraging messages, and eventually returned to tutorials and reviews. Last year, I had a significant conversation with God about my purpose and felt led to start a podcast to support women in their walk with Christ. My best friend and I launched “Hey Sista Girl,” where we go live bi-weekly on Instagram to discuss topics, break down Bible verses, and share personal insights to uplift and encourage others.
I’ve also recently revamped my YouTube presence under the name ShaybaeTheInfluencer. My goal with this channel is to use tutorials to inspire and guide others. I believe the term “influence” carries a powerful responsibility to represent something positive. For me, that representation is Christ, and I strive each day to reflect His values and improve in my journey to be more like Him.
I am also a wife to an amazing husband and a mother of three beautiful kids.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t always been a smooth journey. I’ve faced challenges and struggled with timelines, often feeling like things weren’t happening as quickly as I’d hoped. However, I’ve come to understand that everything happens for a reason and according to God’s plan. I now believe that His timeline is always the best one, and everything will fall into place at the right moment. Trusting in this process has been a valuable lesson for me.

By day, I’m an HR Recruiter, and outside of work hours, I’m a content creator—often juggling it all with a touch of humor! I run a podcast called “Hey Sistgirl” and manage a TikTok channel that focuses on uplifting and encouraging messages. Additionally, I have personal content platforms on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube under the name Shakskyler, where I share wig reviews, natural hair tutorials, styling tips, clothing reviews, DIY projects, and more.
I also have a YouTube channel, ShayBaeTheInfluencer, which features tutorials and powerful messages. Balancing being a wife, a mother, and a content creator can be challenging and time-consuming, but it’s a testament to my dedication and passion.
What sets me apart is my ability to adapt and stay present in the moment, doing everything with a greater purpose beyond seeking approval or popularity. While many focus on likes and validation, my goal is to help others and be a vessel for God’s work. I am committed to following His guidance throughout my content creation journey.

Trust God- Isaiah 41:10: “Do not fear, for I am with you.”.
