Meet Katherine Vasquez of Katasblush

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katherine Vasquez

Hi Katherine , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My name is Katerine or Katasblush in Social media, and I’m from Colombia. I’ve been living in the United States for 19 years now, but my journey in the beauty industry began just 6 years ago. However, my passion for beauty has been with me my entire life.

Growing up in Colombia, I was always fascinated by everything related to beauty. As a little girl, I loved playing with my mom’s makeup, and I would often do my sister’s, cousins and friends’ makeup and hair as well. I was fascinated by everything from makeup and hair. I vividly remember when the first hair straightener came out—I would use it on my mom’s friends, and they would pay me, telling me I did a great job. As I grew older, people started asking me to do small things like their eyeliner, and I always enjoyed it.

When I moved to the United States, I would often do my friends’ makeup for fun and various events. One day, a friend asked me to do her makeup for a birthday party. I did such a great job that she suggested I should consider pursuing it more seriously. That idea started to take root in my mind.

I decided to take makeup courses, both in Colombia and here in the U.S., but I always treated it as a beloved hobby. That all changed one day when my husband’s cousin was getting married. I ended up doing the makeup for three women, including my mother-in-law, at home. That experience made me realize just how much I loved enhancing women’s beauty with just a touch of natural makeup.

It was my husband who encouraged me to take this passion seriously and turn it into a business, rather than just a hobby. Since then, I’ve dedicated myself to learning more about the industry and understanding that what I truly love is highlighting the natural beauty of women, always following my clients’ desires and bringing out the best in them with a little touch of makeup.

I’ve gradually overcome my fears and learned to trust my achievements. My growing confidence and consistency have helped me work seamlessly with people around me. Social media, especially Instagram, has been crucial in getting my name out there, allowing me to overcome my shyness and showcase my skills. This has led to several satisfied clients.

Over the past six years, I’ve shared my work from various events like birthdays, weddings, photo shoots, and even TV and music videos. I believe my progress comes from trusting myself, dedicating myself to what I love, and recognizing that I still have much to learn to achieve my goals.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been a journey of ups and downs, during which I’ve learned a lot. However, I believe there have been some obstacles along the way, particularly the challenge of being surrounded by a high caliber of makeup artists here in Miami who are much more recognized on social media. Because of this, it hasn’t been easy for me to reach where I want to be. But, little by little, I’ve learned a lot from these people I follow and have taken them more as role models to aspire to, rather than seeing them as obstacles.

What I’m about to mention isn’t really an obstacle, but it did put a pause on my career. After becoming pregnant with twins, I took a break while I started the journey of motherhood. It was very difficult to start again, especially in terms of trusting my talent, believing in what I was doing, and recognizing that this passion I had wasn’t just a job, but something I enjoyed and that served as therapy for me.

So, I wouldn’t say this was an obstacle, but rather a forced pause after my pregnancy. It was difficult to get back on track after almost two years of putting my career on hold. Now, I’m starting again and bringing new ideas to the table, hoping to finally reach where I want to be.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My business is called KatasBlush on Instagram and Facebook. I’m a professional makeup artist. I specialize in enhancing women’s beauty with makeup, but with a more natural touch, where my clients can feel very beautiful, yet not feel like they are different from who they truly are, with another personality, or another face.

What sets me apart from others is my ability to listen to what my clients want and achieve the look they desire, while still offering my advice and viewpoints. I also provide the service of traveling to their homes for their convenience on the event day and send them beauty tips to help them achieve smoother skin and be ready for their big day. I offer simple hair services as well, such as straightening, waves, and various hairstyles. I’m proud that Katasblush has remained strong after 6 years, with clients who have returned over the years or who were recommended by others. I’m proud to say that I have never received a complaint or negative feedback about my work; on the contrary, many of my clients have encouraged me to delve deeper into the beauty world to offer more services. I would like readers to know that Katasblush performs its work with all the love in the world, always aiming to fulfill their wishes and ensuring that my services provide them with peace of mind and less stress on important dates. Currently, I offer makeup services for all types of events, including weddings, birthdays, proms, photo shoots, and more. With God’s blessing, I hope to continue growing my knowledge to offer additional beauty touch-up services.

How do you define success?
As Katas Blush, I would define success as the ability to make my clients feel confident and beautiful in their own skin while staying true to who they are. Success is not just about gaining recognition or a large following on social media; it’s about building genuine connections with my clients, understanding their needs, and delivering a service that leaves them feeling empowered. It’s also about personal growth—overcoming my own fears, continuously improving my craft, and finding fulfillment in the process. Ultimately, success is measured by the impact I have on others and the joy I find in doing what I love.
