Today we’d like to introduce you to Madison Simon
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was born with a congenital heart defect and I’ve had a total of 12 surgeries. I grew up dancing but never felt like I belonged or like I was meant to be in that space. I was also bullied a lot in middle school for my heart and back issues. Later finding out I had a severe curvature in my back leading to a scoliosis and hip dysplasia diagnosis. My senior year of high school I was homeschooled due to moving further south. I found myself applying to Miss Florida Teen USA 2023 and that would forever change the narrative of my life.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I was bullied from elementary all the way even to high school. My health journey was also a little unstable as now I have 4 different diagnosis when I was only diagnosed with one when I was born. Some personal struggles had to do with my parents divorce, losing my grandma to covid-19 just after my 16th birthday.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My platform heartfelt rhythms is all about telling my story while also advocating for my community. While in the process of creating my platform I met the Brady Hunter Foundation and they were willing to work with me on a vision board event that I was working on with my hospital to bring some joy to patients. They made the event happen and it was absolutely incredible and I couldn’t be more grateful. During that event I met a 3 year old heart patient who will forever inspire me. We did stay in touch and I’m so happy to have met her and her family in this process.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
My drive and my passion. If you don’t have a passion for what you’re doing it’s not going to work out exactly how you may want it to. I have a passion for helping people and that’s why I’m a nursing student and it’s also why I enjoy pageantry so much. Because I get to help so many people and I get to share my story to show others they’re not alone. Through my drive I get things done in time and it makes me work harder than everyone else.
