Hidden Gems: Meet Debra Serebrin of Debs Consulting

Today we’d like to introduce you to Debra Serebrin

Hi Debra, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I began my 20 year career at Warner Bros. Discovery as a graphic designer and then pivoted into marketing and strategy. There, I worked on global brands such as CNN.com, NASCAR.COM, PGA.COM, PGATOUR.COM and MLB on TBS, NBA on TNT, Cartoon Network and Adult Swim. I helped relaunch entertainment brands such as The Powerpuff Girls, Ben 10 and We Bare Bears. I also lead Cartoon Network’s anti-bullying awareness and STEAM programs working with best-in class, industry leaders. This is how I obtained my unique “credentials” as a utility knife – a go to for strategy, marketing, and design.

In 2020, while my one daughter needed help with virtual kindergarten and my other was on a nap schedule, I left the corporate world for a more flexible option. I began freelancing which ultimately lead me to start my own brand strategy and graphic design consultancy, Debs Consulting. I’ve worked with all sizes of clients including Rebel Girls, Dress For Success Atlanta, COX, and Kim Rose Flows.

Also, my paintings were recently showcased in the Fridge Art Fair in NY during Frieze Week. I’ll be showing again at the Fridge Art Fair in Miami during Miami Art Week.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I think it was Teddy Rosevelt who said “Nothing worth having comes easy.” I’ve had many pivots, all of which helped me grow as an artist, a professional and a parent. I’m a pioneer at heart, so I find myself often asking excited about change and looking forward to taking on new challenges and clients in all aspects of business. I love to dig in and learn the ins and outs of people and their lines of work.

I quickly learned that I needed a blend of art and business to be fulfilled at work. Though I initially went to school for graphic design, I spent my early career days taking classes, working on pro-bono projects and saying “yes” to all opportunities in order to grow, learn and to pivot where necessary.

Having many roles and experiences has only made me more empathetic and understanding of what companies and individuals need to succeed in all areas.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I’ve spent over 20 years in global entertainment media (news, sports and kids) and have a demonstrable track record of delivering innovative, elegant solutions. My wide variety of experience and leadership with top tier brands make me a valuable asset.

I specialize in brand strategy, storytelling, logo design and any graphic design an organization might need. I’m a one-stop shop offering “Strategy Chops, Marketing Brilliance, and Artful Design – ALL IN ONE PLACE.” I am known for having a collaborative approach bringing my unique blend of strategic, creative and sensible thinking to everything I do. I am an expert at telling brand stories through beautiful visual and smart presentations, websites and any artifact that an organization needs to do business.

In addition to graphic design, I paint and teach STEAM education, a multi-disciplinary approach to learning.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
My family is number one. I’ve had so many people in my corner, helping me along the way. I hope to give back to them the same way they have given to me.
