Hi Daniela, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My name is Daniela, and my story is one of resilience. A testament of reaping the rewards of self-belief and trusting in God to guide you through a comeback. It’s about forging opportunities and transforming challenges into triumphs. It’s about defying the odds and overcoming “you can’t do that” or “you don’t have enough.” They say that when one door closes, another opens, but how you find that new path is up to you. Do you wait for the right moment, or do you create it? My journey shows that it’s possible to build your own door and walk through it, even when life seems to shut doors in your face. This is the essence of Brow Me Miami’s inception.
Like many, my future was disrupted by COVID-19. After working for over three years and being laid off when the company shut down, I struggled to find financial stability despite my degree and strong resume. The constant rejections made me realize I needed to create my own opportunities. In 2021, I became a certified esthetician and brow artist but initially took on clients only sporadically while working full-time in nightlife. Balancing both was exhausting, and I felt discouraged, thinking entrepreneurship wasn’t for me.
In early 2024, I took a leap of faith and left nightlife for good. Though uncertain about starting my own business, I knew I needed to escape a lifestyle that no longer fulfilled me. I rebranded, remodeled, and launched Brow Me Miami. In less than eight months, I’ve gained over 30 regular clients and experienced significant growth by embracing the very challenge I once feared.
Raised as only child by my single mother and grandmother, we moved to the U.S. from Colombia when I was seven in search of better opportunities. My mother, who worked multiple jobs to support us, was a true role model of empowerment and hard work. Her example has guided me to where I am today. I am proud to be the first in my family to break the cycle of generational poverty and own my own business. Now, I channel my creativity into helping others look and feel their best. The smiles and gratitude I receive from clients inspire me daily. My passion lies in transforming lives through the art of brow and lash enhancement.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
In addition to battling self-doubt and limited financial resources, I faced challenges in attracting the right clientele due to my location being far from the main city. Being based down south made it difficult for many to reach me, so I eventually adapted by offering mobile services. However, I was fortunate to have a loyal group of clients who remained dedicated despite the distance.
Another challenge was finding mentorship in this competitive industry. It was difficult to find someone willing to not only train but also provide ongoing support. I lacked that guidance and now aspire to offer it to those I mentor in the future.
